Is there a way to just use Touch ID for Apple Pay and not for unlocking the phone? I don't want to use a passcode or Touch ID to unlock, but Touch ID is required for Apple Pay
Is there a reason you dont want to use touch id?

It's coded as a debit, at least in the confirmation email that WF sent this afternoon. It's a debit card, money comes out immediately. But I've used it as a credit (with sig not pin) before, money still comes out immediately of course. I'll have to try it at Walgreens to see if it defaults to 'debit sorry need your pin as well' or if it will be smart enough to run without pin.Is your Wells Fargo Visa a debit or credit ?
Putting in a pin seems unnecessary but I guess it would be good if you wanted cash back.Chase Debit card.
Just used at Walgreens. Reader picked up the card on the phone, phone asked for fingerprint, then had to put pin number into the machine and go through the litany of questions about approving the purchase.
The only observable difference was not having to swipe my card.
I'm not asked at setup for the card whether to use it as debit or credit or I would choose credit.
Anybody else also have to put pin and whatnot into the reader?
As a tip for anyone trying to find merchants to try Apple Pay out at, the MasterCard Nearby app is pretty handy. It's free in the App Store and revealed far more merchants than I would've expected that support contactless payment. Hopefully the list they give is up to date!

Not in the list of current banks or even the UPCOMING ones...
My closest Starbucks doesn't have NFC terminals yet. So much for being an Apple Pay "partner." Worked great when I used it at Walgreens.
Not according to the FAQ on Apple support page. It says hold the phone to the terminal without touching home button. Then the app opens and you chose the card. I haven't tried it yet.Without unlocking, it uses your 'default card.' Which you can choose in settings. If you want to use a different card from your default card, you'll need to open passbook and select the card you want to use.
I bought chocolate and dental floss at Walgreen's to test Apple Pay. (I figured they'd cancel each other out.) Worked flawlessly and instantaneously. Didn't have to enter a pin... Pressed the TouchID, then pressed an "OK" button on the terminal, and we were done. It took longer for the receipt to print than anything else.
Funny story: this Walgreen's is less than a mile from Georgia Tech. I was the fourth person in line. Three of us were testing Apple Pay.![]()
Does anyone feel comfortable enough to pay for something besides a candy bar, (and Dental Floss of course)? A large $50.00-$1000.00 item say?
Of course, why not? It's no different than sliding the card.
First of all why did you have to press "OK" on the terminal? Was it a debit card thing?
And on another note, good thing it is Halloween season because Walgreens is going to sell a boat load of candy as people test Apple Pay. But I never though about them canceling it out with Dental FlossReally can you imagine the number of small purchases they are going to have this week.

By the end of the month, the Chase Amazon card should be available to use in Apple pay...according to Chase. Guess we will have to wait a couple of weeks.

Interesting...I was told by the end of the month. Hope you are right!
I've read other places that chase is Blaming Amazon and Amazon is blaming chase. I believe Chase first since they have other cards already supported. I emailed Amazon complaining and got the standard canned sorry email but no mention of a date.
went to walgreens... bought some items
