Do a double tap for erasing:)

That was my thought. Or if not a double tap cause that would be done by accident (I tap the side of my pencil when i’m thinking), a double swipe sort of gesture. Or a double tap but you have to hold the second tap for a moment. Or a double tap that brings up a little menu like how that floating accessibility button works and then you can pick eraser or color wheel or size or opacity etc

We already knew this, 3 of those points are essentially the same. Despite the much better charging method, the gestures will be the main advantage over the old model. What I don't know and would like to know is about any functionality on the other side of the pencil. Currently there's no indication of it but I think there is demand from the user base as it seems like wasted space. But nevertheless, it'll be more appealing but we'll have to see at the event if Apple will be charging a higher price.

Overall these will be good improvements, though I’m hoping for one more thing.
Gestures - may prove useful as long as it’s not easy into accidentally trigger them, and developers are quick to jump on board.
New charging method - pretty much anything is better than sticking out of the side, but I hope it still fast charges.
Magnetic attachment - it would be good to have a convenient, consistent place to put the pencil for short periods in between uses.
AirPod-like pairing - sounds good but I’m wondering how it’s going to be triggered. Airpods you open the case. What do you do with the pencil? Will it actually have an off/off switch??

The main thing it really still needs is an on/off switch. I keep the pencil in my bag with my iPP, and unless I turn it off, it drains battery constantly since it’s in motion throughout the day. I can turn on airplane mode and turn it back off to turn off then pencil each time, but it takes a few moves, sometimes the iPad is moved or packed away before I get a chance to do so, and reconnecting requires awkwardly sticking the pencil out of the side of the iPad every time (though this apparently will change, to something hopefully just as easy and much less awkward).

This is editorial. Maybe they are looking for help. “...wait to long...” is also in there.

It's actually long to wait, no typo there. Apologies again for the error with the time. I'm west coast and accidentally wrote Eastern instead of Pacific.

This article says the event starts at 7am ET? I thought it was 10am ET.

Is this error in accuracy of the MacRumors article?

It's been fixed. It's 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time and 7:00 a.m. Pacific Time.

Uhh ohh,
Now it's all making sense
All of those wild crazy illustrated Apple logos pumped out for this event only spell one thing: This is a new Apple Pencil event

Some nice speculation on the new Pencil. I’ll nab two of them eventually along with a new iPP on sale.

Lots of priorities before I hand Apple another big chunk of change for another iPP and pencil.

This sounds like a good direction. I have nearly lost my cap on several occasions. However, don't most people use their iPad with a case? Hopefully it is able to attach/charge with a case. I carry mine all over campus and I also have small children. No way I'm going case-less. Hopefully Apple brings back their leather cases with one specially designed for the Pencil. IMO there is no iPad case better than Apple's leather cases—they are slim, protective, and attractive.
Nope. Air 2 from day one. Never used a case or any sort of protection. Neither on my iPhone.

Interested to see how this will work with various iPad cases... also, picking up your iPad, carrying it in a bag, etc. without the pencil falling off...

Basically interested to see how this works at all.
