Funny what happens when one keeps upping the ante and finally crosses a threshold that invites scrutiny and enforcement.
Indeed. Vanity always gets them in the end because they forget real life isn’t Hollywood.
  • First they ignore you
  • Then they laugh at you
  • Then they fight you
  • And if you’re a fraud, they take your megaphone away.

So he crossed all those companies thresholds within a few weeks despite being on th platforms for years and not actually breaking any of the rules of some?

Hmmm... ok.

Which rules?
If you know anything of human nature or trends, even in business, all it takes is one to finally get fed up and act, and the others follow suit.

I’ll leave it to you to read the article which pointed out appropriately applicable parts of Apples T&C.

Just like religion then.
No. Religion isn't intentionally misleading. it's just misleading. Alex jones knows what he is saying is false, and he says it anyway specifically to mislead you. Religion can hide behind the fact that no one really knows. Alex tells obvious lies that anyone can check and see are false... but he also has a whole host of evil crap he does on top of that.

So to be clear, it is okay for the company MacRumours to disallow the majority of the public from posting what they like, but not for Apple or Twitter to do the same? Whether the scale is the same or not, the principle is.

Not entirely true. Telecommunications ogilopoly are under special scrutiny for this reason. Scale does matter; you being unable to effectively spread a message far and wide because all major options won’t let you is more problematic than a small platform not letting you.

All those people worry about corporations censoring them and keeping a “free and open internet” have magically made a 180 on net neutrality. It’s a miracle!
Not to refute your point, but I think this case is about improving the signal to noise ratio in general.

Conservatives are always for the rights of companies to do as they please until it doesn't fit their narrative. The NFL kneelers, Twitter, Facebook, Google, Apple.... all because some loon can't spew his hate speech. Let him create his own platforms and have at it.

You don’t get one. Apple exercised their freedom of speech. You had nothing to do with it...

I think you need to read the post I quoted. I know I don’t get one. I know I have no say.

the original post said that free societies let their members choose, i said they just did, then you said you didn't have a say. This is apple, a member of this society, making their decision. you have no say. it's their decision. They exercised their freedom of speech to not support this kind of speech on their platform.

This is just the beginning. Opened up Pandora’s box. Just remember it goes both ways and when someone you believe in gets cut off it will be all fair.

So Apple is just exercising their right to moderate their platform by removing apps like Infowars. I get that, it’s their right.

What I don’t understand is why many of the same people who are for this will boycott a cake shop for refusing to bake a cake for a gay wedding.

For now.

Simple, yes. Accurate, yes.

The major internet corporations are left leaning, controlling and surpressing right wing views one at a time.

If the major ISPs are left leaning... then the GOP really took the bait and got rid of net neutrality didn’t they?

Seriously though, left or right leaning internet companies doesn’t stop you from freely speaking without the government censoring you. You can go to any public space and express your political views at any time.

They take down some content but most content that violates apples rules still remains on the platform. And yet the app still

Do you think in black and white all the time?
Should they take down all browser apps? Alex jones app is specifically for disseminating his misinformation and hate speech. Youtube takes down stuff like that, now apple did. Alex jones can go yell on the street corner like the nut-job he is... or he can take some the millions he has made being a "censored media outcast" and build his own distribution platform. Either way Apple is under no obligation to give him a megaphone.

I’m sorry, has your argument now shifted to “well, if he was really that bad, why wasn’t he banned sooner?”

That is impressive.

Truly civilized “societies” let their members decide for themselves
Yeah right! So the US is more civilised than Europe, Australia and Canada? Places where hate speech is against the law, places that have universal health care, places with sensible gun control, universal unemployment benefits, and are still signatories to the Paris agreement.
Sounds pretty civilised to me.

  1. That’s not what neutrality means in this context.
  2. As it happens, neither Apple nor Twitter are my ISP. My ISP lets me go elsewhere.

You can yell on the corner as well, instead of posting on the forums that you don’t like the guy.
The door swings both ways.

This guy needs to check in to a mental health facility.

So should half the current and past politicians. But that’s not going to happen.

Oh no. Left-wing conspiracy peddlers will be banned as well?
