Good riddance. Unfortunately one of my good friends was a fan of his and he turned into a lunatic. Constantly telling people that there were chemicals in the air and that his heart disease was caused by the government and Obama even though Obama was in University when he was born. I had to cut ties with him just like Apple did today.

And we as a society have decided that we want limits and social norms, manners, and behavioral standards.

They are deciding not to facilitate him, as is their right. Don’t like it? Build your own platform and go to town.
I don't like the guy and don't think he should be given an audience because what he says is made up.
But I don't believe Apple should be deciding who should be on the platform.
If he is breaking any laws, then let the courts decide. Not the platform.

Oh yes, woe are the poor victims of those forced to suffer his speech. If only they had the freedom to choose not to watch or listen to him. Oh, won't someone think of the children?!?
That's not the problem. It's the slander, doxxing, and false advertising, not just expression of views. I'm surprised he hasn't been prosecuted for any of that*. I'd defend the free speech of even the modern Nazis as long as they are merely expressing their views, as the US constitution does.

* If anything is a secret government conspiracy, it's him, lol

I dint really understand the position people have where they see this as against free speech. This clown has had more than enough time to put an educated point of view across.

How long must people suffer the ignorance and verbal abuse?

So should we shut down religion in that case? Where the abuse has long transcended verbal.

Which courts because Apple operates under hundreds of different governments. Also, why would you want a private business to give away all their rights to their websites to a government? That’s just a dumb idea.

A civilised society has no place for hate speech.

I repeat what has been said often:

When a Left-leaning person finds the Right's speech so offensive as to label it as "hate speech", know this that very often the Right-leaning person finds the Left's position to be so repugnant as to be hateful, as well. Yet, the Rightist person does not slur it with the label of "hate speech", because it's just not something that the people on the Right do.

So if both sides find the other side's ideology to be hateful, how it is equitable that, just because all the major Social Media corporations reside in the Leftist heartlands, that they get to ban whomever from the Right that they choose?

Instead, the Right and Left need to dialogue -- without any name-calling -- and debate the issue.

There was a piece in a psychiatric journal a while back about the double-edged nature of the internet’s ability to connect people far and wide. Basically, instead of seeking medical attention, people with paranoiac disorders wind up on message boards with other people who are also so afflicted and they end up reinforcing one anothers’ illnesses. I think Alex Jones preys on the same vulnerable demographic. During his divorce proceedings he claimed his on-air persona is just a character he portrays. (His lawyer has repeated this argument in subsequent lawsuits against him.) And to think, he takes advantage of mentally at-risk people just so he can sell them lousy low-quality "health" supplements.

No, the entire industry did. It’s a targeted silencing of opinion, and it’s downright disgusting.
It's false facts, not opinion.

I know the corps also have the right to silence whatever they want, but I admit it's a bit troubling. Remember when everyone decided to censor Confederate flags, even in historical settings? There's no perfect solution to this.

Is lying against the rules? Because there’s a lot of lies out there.

How many religious apps are there?

Yes, it says so here https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/
Religion is speculation, not lies. Alex Jones outright lies about known facts. Though this isn't the reason they banned him.

“Religion is speculation”

Brilliant lol.

How many flat earth apps and podcasts do Apple host?
[doublepost=1536397144][/doublepost]
No they exersised their right to not host his hate speech. If Alex Jones has a right to his bs, apple and the rest have the right to tell him to go f himself.

They host YouTube, lots of lies and “hate speech” in the videos and comment sections there..

But if it is found in the content, it is removed pretty quickly. Not a quick as copyright infringement, but pretty fast.

This man peddles lies about children who were murdered in mass shootings...

I read a poll that the majority of the Left accept everything that the mainstream news tells them, whereas a majority of the Right mistrust what the news tells them.

Let's put this to the test.

When you say that Alex Jones peddles lies about Sandy Hook, please write and tell me: (1) have you read Alex Jones's explanation of what precisely he said, or (2) are you forming your opinion entirely from what you read in the mainstream news?

Are you fair-minded person?

Do you believe a person, even accused of the most egregious crime, needs his side of the story to be heard?

Go to his website, and read his explanation.

I don't buy much of everything Alex Jones said about Sandy Hook, but there were a few points he made that I felt were worth further investigation.

I have no idea how many flat Earth apps they host, but they can reasonably remove those too. Maybe they don't consider it a big enough problem to care.

So you think they should stop hosting those too? What about all the conspiracy podcasts?

Lol no it isn’t! Are you kidding me? And you admit it exists there yet Apple still host the app.

Sorry, I edited the above comment to say "if they contain false information." Conspiracy theories are opinions and don't deserve to be removed, no matter how dumb they are.

“Conspiracy theories are opinions and don't deserve to be removed, no matter how dumb they are.“

So you agree Alex Jones app and podcasts shouldn’t be removed. Good.

There are clips of him on the internet saying all this stuff. I don’t know how much more "straight from the horse’s mouth" a lie can be.
