WiTricity Powered Magic Mouse?

This will be because the new Magic Mouse with WiTricity Power is comming out! they are just running stocks out IMO.

I've never liked Apple's mice or keyboards. The trackpads are nice, *very* nice.

However, I will continue using my $12-$20 Logitech mice when I can. Nice and simple. The Apple mice always get put away in a drawer.

You don't like apple's keyboards??? They are the best keyboards I have EVER used. Man I love them. I can really type fast on them.

Now apple mice on the other hand are horrific I'll grand you :) But they know keyboards and trackpads.

It seems more likely they'd be phasing out the wired one. Someone probably has their product names mixed up.

This would be a big moustake!

The trackpad is a seriously flawed design and hopeless for any fine grain work and for gaming a disaster.

I hope this is just a rumour. Magic mouse was actually pretty good once you got the hang of it.

What ? the track pad isn't as easy to use as the magic mouse.I need a mouse . And we won't be capable to use it with apps and games

Not buying it. I think cult of mac has it all wrong. Too many people need mice and the Magic Mouse is the best mouse Apple has ever made, in my opinion.

I love trackpads, but need a mouse.

They should just have an 'advanced' Keyboard that has an integrated trackpad.

We're talking primarily for swipe gestures, so put it across the top of the keyboard, it doesn't need to be big.

Eh Apple sells far more laptops than desktops. And of the desktops only the iMac comes with a mouse.

They won't drop support for mice anytime soon even if they drop the magic mouse. But I could definitely see Apple standardizing on the trackpad. They like to unify product lines to keep the message as simple as possible and the experience similar as possible.

I agree with you, for accurate or detail work , I would never use a mouse or trackpad. The pen tablet is the tool of choice.

I gave up the mouse about a year ago, and started using the Magic Trackpad because I could no longer grip a mouse. Took a while to get used to it, but now I prefer it. Adapting to a new way of doing things is much faster when you are totally denied the old way.

Now I work with stylus/Wacom in left hand (lefty), Magic Trackpad in right hand, and I really like the set up.

I think you might enjoy my latest blog article...

BTW, I use mouse, wacom tablet, touchpad, and iPad as input for my Mac, and like them all...

Also, Apple does need to replace their current crap mouse, but replace it with a better one please...current mouse is a disaster.

No complaints from me. I've never like Apple's mice, and the trackpad is awesome. Thrid-party mice manufacturers make far better mice anyway.

Now thats just not true ;)

What good are fingers if you are unable to click?

Our distributor still shows the Magic Mouse as being 'Active'. They have over 1,400 of them. It's the Magic Trackpad that they have zero stock across the US and Canada.

I tried the Magic Trackpad and really don't care for it. I use more gestures on the Macbook Pros that I have, and really don't see the added benefit of having a stationary 'pad' to also end up interacting with other things on my desk. Besides, since I have a notorious desk around here that always sits just under the 'critical mass' level, having a movable mouse keeps at least *some* of my desk clean. But they say that a clean desk is the sign of a dirty mind. (and someone who is overpaid - looking at boss)

i never liked that mouse anyway. I hate the trackpad. Hopefully they will team up with logitec to offer a useful mouse after all these years.

Ohhh... So that's why those mice ended up in the trash. Same with (showing my age) the DEC 'hockey puck' mice. Both cringe worthy designs by people that either made the decision on their own or browbeat enough people into agreeing with them.

Oh, and don't forget the 'Mighty Mouses' pimple ball and still no right mouse button!

I like the idea but perhaps designed this way:

Instead of a numeric keyboard, the touchpad would be in its place. The touch pad would have a capacitive multitouch screen which can display various types modes such as touchpad mode, numeric keypad mode, shortcut mode, or even a custom GUI mode per software. The GUI mode would be programmed by the software maker via a SDK to display info, shortcuts, special swipe modes, sliders, etc.

Anyway, just a thought. :)

My idea was simple... Yours is better ;)

re original article
its so obvious - jony ives is designing a new mouse with a thunderbolt cable
stay thirsty my friends

To everyone that's complaining about accuracy with it. Are you using your pointer finger to click? (Either pressing down on the pad until it clicks, doing a soft tap, or moving to the bottom corner?)

Try using your thumb to click. It's how I use my laptop and magic track pad, and it's brilliant. It takes a little bit of time to get the muscle memory worked out, but now it's second nature. With a laptop, it's especially nice because you don't need to move your right hand -- just pivot it on the "heel" of the hand, so that your thumb is closest to your chest and the finger tips are pointing to the left. Four fingers available for clicking + dragging, as much precision as a mouse (since you're not combining your clicking + navigating digits). Use the two finger tap for a right click, and you're set to go.

You're right. That's what I do too (more or less). But with the click button being the whole trackpad it's clunky until there's a way to click by merely tapping with your thumb and without having to lift the index finger.

I agree, the keyboard is fantastic. Its the mice I hate. The last "nipple" I had wore the non stick coating off the bottom down to the plastic and it stuck everywhere. The Kensington I have now doesn't have that issue although they are the same age now.
