I've never liked Apple's mice or keyboards. The trackpads are nice, *very* nice.
However, I will continue using my $12-$20 Logitech mice when I can. Nice and simple. The Apple mice always get put away in a drawer.
I agree with you, for accurate or detail work , I would never use a mouse or trackpad. The pen tablet is the tool of choice.
I gave up the mouse about a year ago, and started using the Magic Trackpad because I could no longer grip a mouse. Took a while to get used to it, but now I prefer it. Adapting to a new way of doing things is much faster when you are totally denied the old way.
Now I work with stylus/Wacom in left hand (lefty), Magic Trackpad in right hand, and I really like the set up.
What good are fingers if you are unable to click?
The trackpad is a seriously flawed design and [is] hopeless for any fine grain work and for gaming a disaster.

I love trackpads, but need a mouse.
They should just have an 'advanced' Keyboard that has an integrated trackpad.
We're talking primarily for swipe gestures, so put it across the top of the keyboard, it doesn't need to be big.

Hopefully this will get OS X drivers!!!

I like the idea but perhaps designed this way:
Instead of a numeric keyboard, the touchpad would be in its place. The touch pad would have a capacitive multitouch screen which can display various types modes such as touchpad mode, numeric keypad mode, shortcut mode, or even a custom GUI mode per software. The GUI mode would be programmed by the software maker via a SDK to display info, shortcuts, special swipe modes, sliders, etc.
Anyway, just a thought.![]()
To everyone that's complaining about accuracy with it. Are you using your pointer finger to click? (Either pressing down on the pad until it clicks, doing a soft tap, or moving to the bottom corner?)
Try using your thumb to click. It's how I use my laptop and magic track pad, and it's brilliant. It takes a little bit of time to get the muscle memory worked out, but now it's second nature. With a laptop, it's especially nice because you don't need to move your right hand -- just pivot it on the "heel" of the hand, so that your thumb is closest to your chest and the finger tips are pointing to the left. Four fingers available for clicking + dragging, as much precision as a mouse (since you're not combining your clicking + navigating digits). Use the two finger tap for a right click, and you're set to go.
You don't like apple's keyboards??? They are the best keyboards I have EVER used. Man I love them. I can really type fast on them.
Now apple mice on the other hand are horrific I'll grand youBut they know keyboards and trackpads.
