...for me, the wait for the iPhone 5 is more about the insides. ...
If this is almost a year off does this mean it is a post Steve Jobs era device? How long is the development pipeline at Apple?
I heard from a guy who knows someone who used to be in rehab with someone who knew a teaching assistant for a teacher that taught someone who knew someone that delivered mail to Foxconn who told me that the next iPhone will be a complete redesign in 2012, based on this picture accidentally left by an Apple Employee in a bar.

Agreed.
If they would have slapped the new chip, camera and Siri in a different case and called it iPhone 5, people would have flipped their ***** and gone bananas for it.
Stick the new hardware in the same old case, call it 4S and everyone said, "Lame."
Keep your keys and your phone in different pockets.
I go naked with my 4S about 95% of the time and it only has a couple, very small, very thin scratches on the back.
Sorry there Steve, and I guess I was holding it wrong too.
So you have scratches on the back. Point made. How many do you have on the front? I haven't' used a screen protector since the iPhone original and no scratches on my screen. The back is a cheap piece of glass that will shatter or scratch if you look at it wrong. The 3GS was a cheap piece of plastic that cracked right at the bottom, vertically, about an inch. Right into the product number area.
A matte, rubberized back would be functional in so many ways. Hides scratches. Keeps from slipping out of hand and off of dashboards. Provides some amount of shock protection. Not as heavy as glass back either.

ew... put your clothes back on... the 4s is tiny and can barely cover your privates...
Don't worry, it will be Gorilla Rubber (tm)

The 4S, although yes it sold well, was really a very boring update, no? Seemed more like a stopgap until 5 was ready. Same as 3GS. A big snooze fest all around. We have grown to expect a bit more "wow" factor from Apple than this. Hope they don't let us down this time.
I like how you were downvoted to hell but when MacRumors posts the exact same thread just a few posts below yours, it remains uncastrated.i really want the iPhone 5 to launch this summer even though i already upgrade to the iPhone 4S and will have to pay full price. but the new design sounds really super! we'll have to see how this unfolds I suppose! Will you other iPhone 4S upgraders upgrade to the iPhone 5 too?
