iOS X for the iToy market only

I disagree with this. If Apple were to mesh OS X and iOS together, the iPad would be the "light mobile" device. I'd go on a limb and say that the iMac would be the first Mac to make the transition to a iOSX system.

iOS X for the iToy market only with Mac OS X Lion for those that need more computing power. There is still a need for Mac OS X Lion even if only to do the programming for the iToy iOS.

The 2 OSes may keep looking more alike, but ask anyone that purchases a Mac Pro whether they could get their work done with the iOS. So then the new Mac Pro becomes the iOS Mac UnPro.

Can a dual core A6 do the work of a 12+ core Xeon processor. This may just be why there is so many different processors. Every model doesn't need the same processor. The iPad just wouldn't work very well with dual 6+ core processors either.

Maybe the new models means that Apple will start making things thicker to allow a better useful feature group & longer battery life for those that can run off of an enclosed battery. The iPad 3 by the sounds of things will need a new bigger in physical size battery. So unless Steve Jobs can get over his thinner is better mentality the new model would have to be called the Fat iPad, after the earlier Fat Mac.

its amazing how rumors or gossip spread. someone mentions iOS in the thread and suddenly everyone assumes its gonna run on a mac xD

Like I said earlier, iOS and OS X have always shared and will share a lot of sub-systems and infrastructure. Apple isn't going there, they already are there.

The merging of Finder and Springboard won't happen as long as the input paradigms are different between iOS devices and Macs.

But let's face it, a MacTV with OS X doesn't make much sense. People don't want a computer for a TV. And smart TVs really are having a hard time catching on. Companies have been at it, trying to make the TV smarter, since the 90s. Web browsers, chat systems, games, "interactive TV", the most that is catching on is built-in TV guides.

An iOS based TV with some form of integrated game console/PVR/Rental service would work, but then again, why limit yourself to people who buy your model of TV ? Just sell something ... like oh say... the Apple TV which uses HDMI to interface with any old TV out there. Much wider audience then.

Ah I see about the springboard and finder, I keep forgetting iOS is based of Mac OS, but lets hope they don't fully turn the mac into a large iOS device ;) And fair point on the Apple TV. But it has ben rumoured for a while now.

Yep, 149$ for the 32GB model, I would never have plucked down 400$+ for a tablet, I don't even know what usefulness it has (I used it all of 2 minutes to browse the web since buying it 3 days ago).

haha, thanks, I have read that it is rumoured to drop in price massively in the UK so may get one, I don't have a tablet, perhaps I could get two and give one away at Christmas? But the price is damn cheap for a capable tablet.

My bet goes to Apple television set with integrated ATV...rumors have been going on for a while and it seems like a logical step towards the Apple home...Awesome product for fanboyzz !

IMO a standart SSD MBP w/out optical drive does not count as a new product, altough a sweet update, I agree !

Most likely - Air 'Pro.'

Most interesting to me: 'iPad Pro.'
One display/iPad with perhaps a pair of CPU/RAM choices.
Drop into (optional/$) TB dock with external GPU, USB3, TB, video ports, etc. Home low power workstation.
Drop into (optional/$) cover which has an embedded keyboard in it. Instant very portable Netbook on demand.
Just pick it up and go = iPad3.
One base device + pick your options and usage.

Least interesting/most annoying - something smaller and lighter, with less RAM and less storage, that relies on the cloud for far too much of it's storage and possibly apps on demand.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

It's going to an apple cinema display running ios/x, with a keyboard if you want, that has little to no storage capacity, integrated graphics with only enough power to run office apps and can connect to the Internet/ icloud

eh? Office!? its a sodding TV. i think you guys have the wrong end of the stick to what i'm getting at. :(

I am just saying that we should exclude the possibility of a TV with full OSX capabilities. I do not see any point of running this type of apps in long distance view monitor. Thus the name MacTV doesn't make any sense to me.

I love my 46" samsung monitor, no more neck pain, everything is readable, when I want to watch a movie I just move back a little

I've kind of assumed they would drop the MBPs in their current form and make them glorified MBAs. They'll probably lose their optical drives and go SSD. They'll be a lot more costly, because they'll use larger capacity SSDs and they can therefore keep their 'Pro' moniker. We'll lose the 13" MBP, as it will be consumed by the 13" MBA (maybe they'll offer a BTO larger SSD option). This is the environment I reckon we'll find within the next six months. I hop I'm wrong, of course.

But Apple doesn't want in the corporate world.

Macs running Windows 7 to pick up the slack from HP to get in the corporate world.

Apple is the leader in the iToy market. They have a lot a competition is the PC market. The quitting of the racked mounted Mac servers & the dumbing down & $50 price tag for what is left to the Mac OS X Server is Apple's very loud statement telling all that they do not want in the corporate market.

Its just that an iToy maker does not understand the corporate market & that those that serve the corporate market do not understand the iToy market. Since Apple is happy selling appliances they do not want the corporate market. Apple is all about one size fits all.

A vertical screen with touchscreen is a terrible idea (sorry, HP) but a flat-on-the table screen (or slightly angled) is something I eventually expect to see in Macs. Probably very-widescreen in shape, since reaching far away is almost as bad as reaching up to a vertical surface. (Good way to get Popeye Arms.)

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, a horizontal iMac might work. Basically it would be a really big and powerful iPad but running Lion.

Another possibility is a computer optimized for spoken word control. Sure that has been around for a long time, but wouldn't it be just like Apple to "introduce" the concept. Apple might be able to get the technology to actually work.

Can I also vote against an Apple branded television. Apple does not want to sell stuff that is low margin and has a life expectancy of 10+ years.

After reading all this i'm gonna go with a MacTV.

37"- 500GB Hard Drive,Apple A6 SOC and IOS-$1299
42"- 500GB Hard Drive,Apple A6 SOC and IOS-$1799
50"-500GB Hard Drive,Apple A6 SOC and IOS-$2499

Bluetooth v.3.0 for a remote,built-in WiFi for networking your other Macs/Pc's

DVR App.

IOS layer so there's a seamless transition between TV signal and IOS.

Games, videos, music stored on the Hard drive for local use.

HDMI port
Thunderbolt port
USB ports

That's my dream TV :)

Finally! Been waiting for this ever since I saw the story:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BnLbv6QYcA

You Know I don't think you're that far off from reality. I was not able to see the video but I can guess what it shows.

I was thinking at first maybe a Touch screen laptop that can fold over and be an ipad. But it's been done already...kinda.

I can imagine some clean metalic slate that lights up to reveal board keys or some other hand/finger gesture required lighted graphic interface.
I guess just taking the touch pad/magic mouse interface to the next level.
Could happen...

My guess is that it is a mac laptop but where the keyboard & trackpad are supposed to be there will instead be a giant touch screen that could detach and turn into a iPad. When attached it will have a virtual touch screen keyboard and trackpad and maybe some other things.

Yes

As opposed to a mouse dragging gorilla? :)

I never use the track pad on my many Mac laptops. My keyboard with numeric keypad is usually setting on top of it. So thus I have not developed that part of my brain that requires me to can remember what to do with more than one finger.that it takes to operate a trackball.

Everyone does not want to or can not remember all of those many fingers trackpad motions, groups of motions & what not. I use a stylus on my iPod Touch & iPad & a wireless keyboard to do my typing. So thus there are people that do not want to learn to use the many, many fingers things as you do not want to move a mouse as I don't want to or to use a trackball. To each their own. If the use of a trackpad with the Mac OS is added as a new choice then I am all for it. If it is designed to replace the many pointing devices that there is then I am against it. Choice is good, lack of choice is not.

I do not think that nowadays anybody changes his/hers main TV every 10+ years. Price per inch drops so quickly plus new TV features are coming up every day.

sounds like a mac or touch device is nothing for u then

Entire Mac line replaced with one-piece tablets;

All tablets feature closed systems with apps available only through the App Store to registered customers.

The 9 inch, 13 inch and 15 inch run iOS, have ARM processors, and SSD cards. They have long battery life and are considered to be portable. Bluetooth keyboards and mice are supported. Data can be transfered via a single USB port.

The 17 inch, 21 inch and 27 inch run iOS Lion, have Intel Core processors, 2.5 inch SSD(s) and upgradeable RAM. Battery life on the 21 and 27 inch models is short so they are considered occasionally portable. External power bricks are included. Data can be transfered via T-bolt or using USB or FW dongles. Bluetooth keyboards and mice are supported. Like the 15 inch they have a built-in aluminum stand.

That's my nightmare :):):)

(All are jailbroken within 24 hours of becoming available.)
