I would agree but the Kindle sucks, thats the whole problem. With iBooks I can read on my iPad and iPhone, which offer much better reading then the eInk readers, though I would agree would love to have it on my Mac or PC, especially my Creative Suite manuals :)

Note I said "Kindle content", not necessarily the Kindle device. I don't own a Kindle device, but I do purchase the content because it can be read on everything I own (including the iPad and iPhone). There is no technical reason Apple cannot do the same, especially on MacOS X. It seems an arbitrary and unjustifiable limitation -- something you would expect from Microsoft, for example.

Totally disagree. I bought my son a Kindle Touch this Christmas and I was using it and thought, how hideous. Its like using those old monochrome computer screens with a command prompt.

But hey for a boy without an iPad its awesome I guess

It's good for reading books, and it's easy on the eyes. If you're reading a printed book, they typically have visually monochromatic text. I like the ipad too, but if I bought it, I'd probably mess with it for a day then never pick it up again. It's a cool device with a lot of potential. I just don't have a real use for it, so I didn't buy one.

An announcement to team with at least (2) publishing houses to provide e-textbooks for K-5 at least. Formation of a dedicated "Education Book Store."

Also deals for schools with preloaded configurations of iPad for classroom use on a far larger scale using an education version of the iPad. Remember the "e-Mac?" (still have one in the basement) Well, welcome E-Pad.

Just bought three books on the iPad, two for digital photography and one for Adobe CS 5.5. All three feature high rez pictures and examples. Reading this on the kindle would be useless. Amazon recognized this and thus the Fire release. The eInk will be gone in 3 years or less as panels become cheaper to make in color.

build an HTPC?

I really don't feel like building a HTPC. I'm looking at something like the mac mini, but think it's overkill. The Apple TV looks great, but think that's not enough. Just trying to play some mkv's from an external HD via FW800.
