We haven't seen the design yet, but large walls of glass are seldom good insulators. The energy needed to air-condition the store could be substantially higher than a building with insulated walls. Fortunately, the building faces northwest, so it doesn't have to deal with a lot of solar load coming in the window-wall.

Are you still mewling about how Apple's stores are killing the planet? Particularly when your mom and dad (Dell & Microsoft) are the ones with real contempt for Mother Nature (and hippies)?

Wait, how is Nintendo that low on the list? The wii uses so little power when on standby.

Mewling, quite befitting! :p

He's been mewling about Apple Store designs for some time now - his ignoble ancestry, alone, would logically shed light onto his innate and peculiar contempt, which might lead us to believe, then, that his actual birth name, is AidellShawft. :D

Will they be apple trees?

Then you would have to spray for Apple bugs:D. I would like to see a Starbucks so I could have my double light caramel Brulee Brazillian latte mocha with frothed milk and whipped cream with peppermint on the side. Ugh, sounds disgusting:eek:

A change would be welcome. The recent renovation was not impressive.

Additionally, when my MBP went in for repair my wife picked it up for me and had to see 3 different staff members in order to find the correct person who could walk in the back and get it off of the shelf. That's my only complaint with the Apple stores. When you walk in, anyone should be able to assist you and not keep handing you off to someone else.

I have no problems with the appointment system. Its much better than having to wait to see a genius.

The existing store is the only place I've ever had to talk to a genius - my 2007 MBP died due to the nVidia bug. They handled things competently (and I'm very picky - I design microprocessors for a living and have very little patience for tech support).

The idea is that this new store creates a special buzz for Apple, extra "halo" effect. As if they need it, but they continue to do more of what got them here.

I love the service I've received at the stores. It is sooooo much better than dealing with the "other" computer companies. I'm fortunate to have 2 Apple stores within a 20 - 25 minute drive from my house. My complaint, as noted in my previous post, is the handing off to someone else. A few years ago if I walked into an Apple store, someone would ask if they could help, I would tell them what I needed and they would find the item for me or answer a question if I had one. Now I go into the store, someone asks if they can help and I'm directed to go see another person. Why can't all of the employees be trained to answer questions AND sell products? The different colored t-shirt thingy really chapped my hide. When I worked in retail I had to know all of the products AND sell the products and accessories. All of the staff I have dealt with have been very courteous and eager to help however, I should not have to deal with several people to find an item and make a purchase. Maybe thats just me.

Working in an Apple store is not like working in Circuit City where they peddle the latest commodity crap. Apple devices are too complex to be both salesperson and tech support. Besides, people like colors.

I thought they got rid of the colors because customers couldn't figure out which color meant what?

Also I just found out the closest apple store is 4 hours away from me. Wow.

I was thinking that using less energy made it greener.

So does using less energy to build it, using less hazardous chemicals and less polluting processes to build it, and being more recyclable/less hazardous at time of disposal.
