Right. I'm sure you live in a tent and donate all your money that you don't use on food to "charity." This is why we need the down vote button back.

I need food to survive, I need water, I need oxygen, I need a house to keep me warm! I don't need a piece of gold on my finger! Selfish vanity such as this is everything that's wrong with the world. Yes, a down vote button would be very welcome...

Gold Finish, Paint, Anodizing, Plating, et al...

It's all highly overrated and meaningless except to those who wish they were rich.

Apple knows this and works its usual marketing expertise to drive demand.

Gold Watch, Gold iPhone, Gold MacBook

Oh please, it's all a bit tacky yet there's no shortage of wannabes. Vanity reigns supreme in AppleLand!

Is this really any different from anodized silver and space gray on an Apple Watch? It'd be the same anodized gold color finish as the Gold iPhone. It hardly looks like real gold seen on the Edition.
Yeah I know that's why I thought it might look more like those original samsung gears with matte gold finish.

Mark confirmed no OLED in new iPhones. This is absolutely absurd. Apple is becoming the company the haters paint it out to be. Outdated and stale

That's why the Gold Apple Watch is a waste of money because people can spray paint the apple sports watch. No point in spending $10,000+ just because the color is gold. It's made out of real gold but it doesn't have any advantage if other people can easily paint their watches Gold.
...the "advantage" is having a real gold watch. If you are only concerned with the look, or people thinking your watch is gold, then sure... spray paint away. People with those hangups and priorities have other issues.

Blame China lol

I'd like to see Apple release a solar powered numeric keyboard and trackpad. Considering their emphasis on being green, I'm somewhat surprised this hasn't happened yet.

I've been using the Logitech K750 for over a year now and love it. Even ambient light is enough to power it. Sure, it comes with a wireless usb dongle, but that's at the back of my iMac and a small price to pay for not having to buy, change and recharge batteries.

Oooh, I'm interested in the new iPad keyboard.

But I hope it's not exclusively for the iPad Pro.
Not sure how it could be... it'd still basically be a Bluetooth keyboard.

I'm hoping they introduce them as Mac keyboards as well... upgrades for the iMac.

Maybe because some like the color, not necessarily the concept of flaunting wealth or not? The gold and white together look great and is a different thing than the sea of black-colored technology.

A new wireless keyboard with a numpad this time.... please? ....pretty please... ?

there best be a 10 key with that keyboard....those little wireless ones are moronic.

I would *love* a backlit keyboard from Apple. I also need (it's beyond preference :D ) it to be a 10-keyless at the very minimum. Even wireless is totally optional since I use my external KB at a desk, and there's already plenty of wires!

(FWIW, I'm currently using a current model wired full size).

People in here, tossing around self-righteous vitriol - likely typing it on some unnecessary laptop, phone, or tablet that they opted to purchase rather than "donate" to a worthy charity. The comedy.

The gold AWS, like the gold iPhone or laptops, will be the same price. It's a color option - simple as that.

*kicks soapboxes*

This event next week is set to be a mammoth product keynote, if all these reports are to be believed..
New iphones, ipads, apple tv, watch straps, accessories...
Get snacks in ready, folks..

I think I'm going to call in sick so I don't miss anything

Yes, you should! Then you can donate the money you save to charities that work to save people's lives rather than waste money on expensive elements on your fingers...

So, you are in a forum about the computers/tools with the highest profit margin, and possibly the most expensive computers on the regular market and say what you said? How so?
You don't need clothes. You don't need a computer. You don't need electricity. Go live with the Amish and donate the rest to charity.
Oh, and giving money is overrated. Important, but overrated. Give time and skills; go volunteer or work in the non-profit world for a lower wage.

So when I get married should I buy aluminum wedding bands and just spray paint them gold? Real gold doesn't have any advantage if other people can easily paint their rings gold..

Seriously though, the reason people buy the gold watches is because they want a jewelry piece, not just for the color on the surface.

The only problem is Apple prices the Gold Edition 50x the price of Sport for only the metal being different. I'm sure the gold in it is not worth the price difference.

... Just give me a wireless keyboard with a number pad.

I don't care about color, I don't care about batteries vs. rechargeable, I don't even care about it being backlit.

For the same reason some people spend five figures on a real Rolex instead of a couple hundred on a fake one.

Some people want the real thing, and they don't care what others think about it.
