OLED tech came out 4 years ago. Always behind the times.

iPhone wasn't the first smartphone.
iPod wasn't the first MP3 player.
iPad wasn't the first tablet.
Google wasn't the first search engine.
Facebook wasn't the first social network.
Ford wasn't the first automobile.

It's not about being first. It's about doing it in a better way than the others.

I believe Samsung and LG have reduced those issues with new technologies.
Haven't yet. Samsung and Nexus devices are pretty much the only ones on the market. Everybody else is back to using IPS LEDs. Samsung to
How about this year? OLED has been widening the gap as the best display on mobile since Galaxy S4. At this rate Apple will be the last company to dump LCD.
Not when Most other manufacturers are switching back to IPS screens. Too many burn issues with the oleds. Samsung has prevented this by using capacitive buttons instead of software buttons.

Every OLED display phone I have seen reminds me of the TV displays in electronics stores where they crank up the colors and contrast to make it look good in the store but give you a headache if you actually take it home and watch it that way. I actually think the display only 6Plus is very good.
That is just the color profile, you can change it on every device. When calibrated correctly, the OLED displays Samsung uses are superior to LCD in pretty much every regard you can think of, except the price. Stuff that gets thrown around a lot, like burn in, decay and color accuracy are simply not true any longer, for some years by now, so it really feels like people have just memorized the same old arguments without really knowing where OLED technology is at. I remember the early AMOLED displays having issues with yellow/red tints developing over time, but that was almost five years ago. The current models are pretty much the best displays you can use, far ahead of anything Apple can offer atm.

Anyway, the time when Apple releases some kind of OLED screen on their iPhone is probably the time when I'm gonna buy a new one. Until then I don't see any substantial improvements ahead.

Our new future designs will be something that many will be familiar with because....we bought the display from our business enemy, Samsung. I have to admit, their display is incredible so we decided to use it for our future iphones. I mean...why not, right? OLED is so clean and beautiful that we need to take theirs and cram it into our iphones. Don't be fooled if you see 'made in Korea' on your screen....because it was our idea...and it was designed in USA." -Jon Ivy, pre-made iphone designer.

I'm glad Apple is going OLED. S7 was voted the best display for mobile phones by Displaymate. Hopefully, the next iPhone with OLED display takes that spot. :) But as of now, I believe the iPhone has the best LCD display. From what I've read anyway.

Certainly not considering resolution. 750p is pathetic in 2016. The 4.7" model should have 1080p at least. I can see pixels at 326ppi.

It's not about being first. It's about doing it in a better way than the others.

When they're first it's magical innovation.
When they're last it's doing it right.

The great thing about eating your cake and having it, too,
is you never run out of cake.
