"Just make it great."
- Steve Jobs to John Lasseter after being asked for more money to finish a short Pixar film

Oh dear... this I would literally believe when I see it!

Wake me up,when Apple money and support wins them awards for original programming. And captures millions.

Looking at'carpool karaokee' I wouldn't be surprised if this project ends up in the bin like its self driving car seemingly seems have done?

Apple is sssooooooooooooo desperate to photo copy everyone else and 'revolutionise' TV it's pathetic, unless they spend the serious money time and effort Netflix and Amazon and other content providers have over the years.

Compete properly with Nextflix by spending $30B on paying gifted people to create it or give up on this half-assed add-on to Apple Music. Personally if I was running Apple and could do anything I wanted I'd spend whatever it took to acquire Netflix—provided I could keep the content contracts—and I'd let them run as an independent part of Apple while I'd put together a team to build much nicer apps to navigate their content and then a couple of years in announce all these new apps and Apple TV—the service. I'd charge a flat rate of $12.99 for the service (on other platforms) and charge Apple ecosystem watchers less at $7.99 — $9.99 or similar and go from there. Nextflix owns streaming. With all the money Apple has there's no reason they shouldn't own Netflix and streaming.

Stage 1. Acquire > Stage 2. Build apps, rename & instroding special Apple ecosystem pricing (9.99) along with huge new content deals to justify $12.99 price increase on other platforms. Stage 3. Introduce subsidised fully integrated Apple television in upgradable Apple TV brains. Sign 3-year contract $69 per month, get "free" 55" Apple television.

Ok I'm going to bed now.

And there in lies the problem, a great idea that the real Apple would NEVER implement, because it involves supporting other platforms... then again considering Apple Music does I guess you never know.
Supporting as many devices and platforms as possible is key to making a successful streaming service, its why everyone loves Netflix as it practically supports everything.

That is quite a claim....comparable to the two biggest online hits released in years. Why not also include Man from the High Tower just to complete the crazy ambitions.

This is a step in the right direction for Apple if they want o get into their own original programming publishing.

unlike the other announced titles, at least this one doesn't sound like Self Referential meta B.S. commercialization

So far, the other two programs rumoured, The Dr Dre program and Revenge of the Apps, are both glorified Apple product commercials.

If you want to be a publisher of content that lots of people will watch, you can't just keep talking about yourself. you have to eventually provide good stories and media that people can get lost in.

This seems like something Trump would boast. We're going to have the best shows but better! You're going to be so sick of good shows it'll make your head spin!

Either way this is better than Carpool Karaoke and an app maker reality show with Gwen Paltrow...

How about comparable to Games of Thrones, House of Cards, Breaking Bad, Homeland.....

But how about.. imacs, true Mac pros, displays, routers....and true ios-pro ....FIRST !

I'm completely lost with Apple. I hope the first news about Apple isn't the new campus 2 but innovation in products that made it all possible. Because with the products of today they could turn the campus 2 into a museum. We already have the booklet ready .

I think Apple is completely lost. They're losing it in every category they're in. I really hope they will all stunn us with something they've worked on in secret for 5 years. But since we all knew how the iPhone 7 worked and looked like months before introduction, I'm holding my breath. Even companies who's core business isn't making phones (hardware) like google with the Pixel are able to trump the iPhone these days.

If Apple is going to Hollywood I'll bet they make some good drama. A pity they neglected and killed the hardware for it

It's what's missing...

One place/home/hub for Netflix, Spotify & Alexa.

Apple is actually so far ahead people can't even begin to understand.

Sarcasm?
[doublepost=1484258272][/doublepost]Becoming less interested in Apple Computer by the day.

Apple is again spreading themselves too thin. Too many fronts: Music, cars, content, watch, etc. In the meantime the Mac line up stagnant, iPhone and iPad not very innovative on hardware/software and iCloud services not so great.
Focus on what you do best. The relentless pursuit of profits jumping to too many industries are pushing back what they used to be great at. Big mistake IMO.

Stick with your core competencies Apple and that doesn't include creating movies and TV shows.

Stay away from media creation / ownership - once that becomes a big enough component of your organization you go to war with your users (because they "steal" your product) and the companies interests (protecting IP ownership and control) no longer match those of their customers (see Sony). Apple needs to stay away from that area and just make great hardware. JMHO....
They're moving from doing a few things well, to doing everything poorly.

I think it was in the Christmas Credo.

Good gracious me, some people in this world really are thick.

Does anyone think they will be pulling their best innovators and engineers from MacBook projects and asking them to write movie scripts?

Haha! Melts.
They fired those folks years ago.

Still waiting for a iTunes store subscription though. Willing to pay up to around £30/mo for unlimited access to music, movies and TV shows as long as it covers everything on the store, including brand new releases.
You have absolutely no idea how contracts and licenses in the entertainment industry work. This is never ever going to happen.

Some of you people want to may minimal fees to watch the best shows and movies and listen to the best music. You do realize that if the content producers can't make money they will have no reason to create new content, right?

I do not defend Apple when they do stupid things. Why would you think such a thing?

Apple is simply creating exclusives, like all their competitors do. How does that compare to opening whorehouses?

LOL. Sorry about that. Too much caffeine too early in the morning.

You would have said exactly the same thing about the music industry 10 years ago if I'd said I want a subscription to th iTunes Music Store for £10/month, but we have that now, so it is possible.

Tricky, but possible and IMO inevitable.
