If there is a notch there better be Face ID. There isn’t a notch on the M1 iPad Pro so I just don’t get it…

Just make the fullscreen mode start from under the notch and everyone is happy

If the design was what it was in August, it's already done for this year. In fact, this year's design was probably done the end of 2020. That's how Apple works. They don't make major changes two months before the announcement.

Unless they had multiple designs testing all of them and deciding which to release in the last quarter. Maybe only one of the designs was leaked.

If Apple does indeed introduce new MBPs with notches, I’m hoping that either side of the notch will be a digital bezel whereby it will be blacked out most of the time, showing only things like date, battery etc.

Apple will happily sell you 64GB for a $1000 premium. Normal laptops can add 64GB for around $200. Enjoy.
Yep we are aware. Memory and storage Are always a margin increaser for apple. But what we really are paying for is MacOS, iCloud and eveything that makes up the apple eco system. There is a luxury premium. Just like buying a porche. Sure any new car can get you from A to B. But the experience of driving a Porsche Cayman is what you pay for. You’re defiantly not paying wholesale prices for the leather seats and upgraded brakes. That being said I get more value out of my macbooks than almost any other purchase. Even a $5k machine is about $24 a week over a 4 year lifespan. That isn’t much if your using your machine for career. I get it We‘d all prefer to pay less. But the race to the bottom is worse in my opinion.

So price...

We know Apple wont make it cheaper. It hopefully wont go up though right? Talking about the 16 anyway I guess.

they are saving money on the processor (intel to in house)
eliminating the Touch Bar

but adding

512gb standard
Mini LED

would anyone actually buy a macbook with a notch? no chance here. i would switch to chromebook before I did that.
I can assure you very few people here would be willing to switch to an objectively inferior device over a small notch but you go right ahead.

I don’t know about the 2010 but I still have a 2008 MBP that I use a few times a year and it isn’t slow at all.
The 2010 speed is fine, assuming you've put a SSD in it.

I'm using a 2012 15" right now, it's no slower than my 2017 13" MBP or my 2019 13" MBA. The reality is that speed gains since about 2010 have been tiny incremental changes, and only on high end machines do you even really notice much difference in day to day use. Moore's Law is well and truly dead, planned obsolescence is the future.

I don’t understand the notch. Apple pulled off a beautiful design with the iPad Pro screen and there is no notch. It’s built into the bezel which is quite small. Why not just keep that design language and extend the sides and bottom to go more bezel less and just leave the top bezel to feature the hardware underneath.
You do realize that a tablet require some bezel for a place to rest/hold with a hand especially on anything larger than a mini physical dimensions. A phone can pull this off as it can be cupped between one hand an iPad Pro not so.

This article is misleading as Apple has been using darker wallpapers recently on Pro devices and has nothing to do with the notch as the iPhone 13 lighter colours have lighter wallpapers.

The notch on a laptop is being made too much of a big deal prior to its announcement compared to a smaller display device like a phone.

Perspective much, with all the other features people won’t care.
