Yeah I know, old habits die hard...I've used this screen name for everything since I was like 9. And I'm a believer in second chances, hard to give up on your idol since it seems he's trying to be a better person. But back to topic, that's why there are rumors of new laptops soon, and the Pros should be updated sometime shortly as well. I know the tech specs of the hardware aren't necessarily better than any other brand, but the way they package it in a good looking body with OS X is enough for me to drop a couple hundred extra for a 4-5 year investment.

Edit: And I got a little carried away by calling you an idiot, but being a finance major right now I've grown to appreciate how Apple has managed to make so many investors happy at the same time as the much larger number of consumers they've made happy over the last decade. Essentially it was you saying that Microsoft had won something that pushed me over the edge. No hard feelings, not trying to be a complete loser by talking **** on a Mac forum.

I just hope the Apple continues to content in the computing world.

Sorry but I see the iPad as the iToy. I also think that the iPhone should come after Apple computers. Apple was built on computers.

I understand. You possess no form of logic.

For wanting Apple to continue to content in the computing world? That shows no form of logic?

Most of Apple computers have very old C2D processors. They need to be updated.

Please... iPhone improvements are already in my HTC Hero. People Please. ALL OF THEM since my G1. If you don't know how to use your Android Phone just ask me. I mean, Apple obviously took all Android's ideas and implemented it on the iPhone. Well Done Apple. BOOOOOO.

Multitasking - Android: Done
iAds - Android: Done (without games)
Folders - Android: Done
Network Gaming - Android: Done
and the list go on and on...

Sorry. I'm an Apple fan since Mac OS 7, but let's get real about this. Android brought all of this first.

If it wasn't for the iPhone there would be no droid and yes droid has had them first but well see which one is implemented better. I'll take Apple on that all day. And it's hilarious you say that Apple took androids ideas like multitasking and folders, EVERYONE HAS THOSE IDEAS, what about the concept of a phone with a browser or an OS that has an app store. That's revolutionary and now all phones and carriers have them. Apple is an innovator, there thinking way beyond your droid.

I haven't been as exited since the September laptop release of 08.:D I was beginning to get very disappointed in apple after the iPad. With this update the iPad might have a chance!

Happy day!:D:D

No matter what I do, the movie is always 224MB.

I've tried everything, direct links, podcast, everything. It always gets cut in the middle.

Same here. Looks like other users are able to download fine. I'm in Sydney. Might be that the file is corrupted at our local Akamai cache servers. Just a guess. All we can do is wait for them to fix it I guess

Yeah, it's 224MB no matter what. I doubt it's going to be fixed any time soon though.

How come Steve stopped in the middle of demoing folders to show how to change wall papers. That feature already exists now in the current iPhone OS.

Most of Apple computers have very old C2D processors. They need to be updated.

Apple focuses on design and software. Apple manipulates software to get the most out of the hardware. Instead of spending money focusing on processor speed, Apple pushes the limits with the way their computers are designed.

The latest iMacs use Nehalem processors. Apple uses strict cycles to update hardware. i7 Mobile is only 8 months old. The next Macbooks / Pro's should receive a processor upgrade. I'm not sure what you want Apple to do.

Even though they are a few years old, C2D processors are VERY capable. It's quite obvious you don't "get" what Apple is about and that's ok, but you're argument that Apple is "lagging" against the competition is not only false, but the polar opposite of the truth. The build quality / design of Apple computers surpass any other computer company in the world. Most consumers buying an Apple product think that Core 2 Duo is a new superhero movie coming out this summer. Apple buyers want to be wowed with new designs, not new processors.

Sorry but I see the iPad as the iToy. I also think that the iPhone should come after Apple computers. Apple was built on computers.

The iPad may seem like a toy to you, but so did the Mac to many people when it was introduced, because it was graphical rather than text based. The iPad may not have much on the Mac as far as content creation and computing, but it does certain things better than a PC or a smartphone. What it does better is reading, film and games. In short, consumption.
In the future we will see the Mac incorporate touch moor, I suspect, and touch is the wave of the future. They will grow more powerful, and 'full' operating systems (as in OS X) will be optimized to suit them. As it is, they wouldn't do very well in touch. The iPad is heat for consumption, but I agree, it is not a computer in the sense of a MacBook, buy it is no more a toy than an iPod or iPhone. It is innovative and the wave of the future in the sense of form factor. There will be, probably, from now on devices like the iPad,with the same uses, but I expect to see full tablets, built for creation as well as consumption, once e front grows and we grow more used to using touch than mouses and keyboards, though I doubt the later will fall out of use entirely either.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Nooo, still no calendar on lock screen, or notification icons (eg mail, SMS) in top corner :(

It's just the business model and the trends. Apple has to push out products to feed the consumers' wants. The devices they're making are like super portable computers really...I mean less than 10 years ago I had computers that had worse specs that my iPad. A lot of the apps make them seem like toys, I agree, but you can do a lot with them beyond that. And consumers are looking for toys now. However, the iPad's going to be very valuable to me because I'm commuting to school next year and the battery life will allow me to do almost all of my smaller school work wherever and whenever I want for the entire day. And if I really need a full keyboard and applications I can go to a computer lab. But when I'm not working, having it double as a toy is kind of nice. Try to think of it as part toy, to fill an obvious want in the market. But businesses are adopting the iPhone more than the Mac OS it seems, after all.

So the 8GB iPod Touch I got in December will not get the full update?

That is lame.

Not really; if you'd done some research before you bought it, you'd have seen that it was just a cheap 2nd gen device anyway, for the low budget crowd. Thats like buying a £250 full computer system and wondering in a year or so time why it won't run Windows 8...

WHAT ARE THE OTHER 93 FEATURES!?!?!?! AAAHHHH!!! I CAN'T TAKE THE SUSPENCE!!!!! TELL ME NOW!!!

apple you are a genius ;)

Bloody iAd!!!!

I don't want to have to plough through some bleeding Ad when I just want to use an app. There's plenty of other smart phones out there now so for me it's time to move on.

Oh, and in the words of Bill Hicks.......what do the letters U.S.A. stand for? United States of Advertising

You should have watched the keynote... iAd actually makes ads that are consumer friendly, meaning you only have to suffer them if you want to. If you are not interested, dont click, and a tiny banner is all you will see. And that tiny banner only in apps that the developers put them in. It an improvement (vast) over the current hodgepodge of advertising techniques on teh iPhone.

If you read carefully you will notice that I point out that Apple always innovate and their gui designs looks far better than any other touch phone out there. I'M SAYING that they didn't do anything new this time. NOTHING. I was expecting something more usable and elegant beyond the android and they ended doing what android got already in all the phones. So, Apple is first and better most of the time. BUT THIS TIME. was a waste of time.

...the minimalist fashion routine sounds oddly liberating.

I wrote an essay about this once. Unfortunately, my at the time, Win 98 machine* ate a bunch of files, that one included. My thesis was that the fashion simplicity and conformity of for example Christian and Buddhist monks and nuns and Amish was liberating rather than bring repressive.

*I switched from Mac to Windows during Apple's dark days, but once Apple got their groove back, I returned.
