You should have watched the keynote... iAd actually makes ads that are consumer friendly, meaning you only have to suffer them if you want to. If you are not interested, dont click, and a tiny banner is all you will see. And that tiny banner only in apps that the developers put them in. It an improvement (vast) over the current hodgepodge of advertising techniques on teh iPhone.

You're right actually, I haven't seen the keynote yet. I'll check it out. :) Have to admit (perhaps a little sheepishly) that I posted in anger, I'll really hate to dump my iPhone and am waited with baited breath for the 2010 revision, as I am for the iPad to hit the UK shores. When it does I'll break the light barrier getting into the Brighton Apple Store. :)

Anyway, thanks for answering. :)

Another comment;

I'm an idiot? Just look at your screename.

Anyway, there's the new i5 and i7 processors that Apple needs to put into all of their computers if Apple wants to content at all in this field anymore. Some computers have bigger hard drives and more memory too.

The world is littered with the fallout of companies who have played the 'how big is your Johnson' game! My report would be, forget how big it is, what do you do with it? That's what counts!

Apple have consistently built on value and added to it piece by piece throughout their history... Just because you have an i5 it i7 processor (which will come) doesn't count for what you do that extra CPU bang! If your cpu cycles are generating heat in wasted security measures, and the HD is consumed by bloated operating systems and inefficient file handling, then please choose Microsoft..

The MacBook Pro I am using blows my colleagues laptops away, in pretty well all respects. On paper the CPU might be slower, but it delvers optimised performance, both in power and in battery life.... I haven't met a PC laptop that meets the battery performances stated in specs, this macbook pro does, and gives more!

I do think it is a little odd that iPad and iPhone's are based on ancient RISC CPU technology, but I have to admit what they do with it is awesome! Wait till they go multi-core! (which will happen, maybe not this year).

The Apple iPhone is a success because rather that computer on cameras mega (pixies), they provide solid camera and apps. They have built a business model which is the envy on the major phone producers... Apple's boldness has been built on quality not quality and it is paying off... Don't you think....

Many other phones seem to offer more, but they don'y work quite so well and don't live up to the promise of the spec... I can think on Sony Erricson, which quibble about mp4 (now which mp4 is that?). Batteries that flatten in minutes one 'special features' are invoked!

The Jonathan Ives risky redesign of the desktop computer, mp3 players, laptops, iphones and now iPad ... will leave the rest shaking their heads on disbelief!

But Apple have always provided cutting edge design, built on a solid platform.... If that means 'Toy' to you. then fine I'll play-away!

I never get tired of his keynotes. His sense of humor is great.

iAd is a complete game changer. You know Google is spending all their R&D cash trying to figure out how to copy that one without a patent issue... :apple:

Apple also added it to their Apple Keynotes podcast feed in iTunes.

The podcast video turns into a slideshow for me, with only sporadic image updates and audio. Tried downloading it twice.

On Friday morning I checked if the podcast was available via iTunes, saw it was and that it was about 700 megs. Went to work, came home and started to download it - but it's now showing as 179 megs. On playback the sound is fine but the picture is like a slideshow as the previous poster commented.

Does anyone know where the large file can be downloaded as opposed to streamed?

Apple focuses on design and software. Apple manipulates software to get the most out of the hardware. Instead of spending money focusing on processor speed, Apple pushes the limits with the way their computers are designed.

The latest iMacs use Nehalem processors. Apple uses strict cycles to update hardware. i7 Mobile is only 8 months old. The next Macbooks / Pro's should receive a processor upgrade. I'm not sure what you want Apple to do.

Even though they are a few years old, C2D processors are VERY capable. It's quite obvious you don't "get" what Apple is about and that's ok, but you're argument that Apple is "lagging" against the competition is not only false, but the polar opposite of the truth. The build quality / design of Apple computers surpass any other computer company in the world. Most consumers buying an Apple product think that Core 2 Duo is a new superhero movie coming out this summer. Apple buyers want to be wowed with new designs, not new processors.

Yeah, but just imagine “the build quality/design of Apple computers“ would do with the new i5 and i7 processors. Now that's what I'm talking about!

I agree with you, I think that Apple computers are the best. I'd just like to see Apple computers continue to be the best.

Same thing here. Downloaded twice, and more like a slideshow. Funny thing, just yesterday on The Tech Nightowl Podcast, one of the persons being interviewed stated that is exactly what he wanted to do with his iPhone to capture any lectures he went to, because he was just interested in the slides and the audio..
