You say that as if it is a good thing.Garage Band alone looks to be almost worth the price of admission. Apple just killed a lot of other musical apps right there.

Well, just because I am new to this forum, doesn't mean I have no idea.
So, even if MS had an office suite for iOS, you just simply could not work (efficiently) with the iPad. Screen is too small, touch keyboard, etc. If you want to do serious work, you are still bound to work on a laptop or desktop. Sorry, there is and there won't be any way past that. IPad screen size is just too small and don't tell me you can type as fast on the iPad as on a regular keyboard
But if you take the iPad for what it is, it's an ok gadget I guess.
Sorry, but I just can't seriously see anyone use it at work to do some actual work on itWell, maybe for Garageband or iMovie, but who cares about that? Besides, can anyone imagine a huge hollywood Studio going: "OK, we are gonna cut this new blockbuster on the iPad instead of on professional machines". The iPad is a toy, nothing else.
That's a fair point, but the people here aren't exactly the audience Apple intends to reach with these presentations...Apparently Apple and Jobs need to read MacRumors more often, so that they can be at least as well informed as the people here.

Who knows. Maybe they think the bandwidth costs too much... Maybe they got burned by that iPhone 4 keynote where Steve had to ask everyone to turn off their wireless stuff and put it on the floor where he could see it... Or maybe Melissa Leo was in the front row and Apple didn't want to take chances.I wonder why it didn't air live? You could follow it via live video feed on CNN fortunately. But it was odd not having Apple allow greater access to such a free marketing opportunity.
The last iBook was discontinued in 2006. Just think how lucky you are to have a laptop that is still working after five years (could you say the same of a PC?). And no , I am not an Apple fanboy, but an IT support professional in an education environment still maintaining eMacs for goodness sake when most of our PC desktops of the same era died long ago... and you don't say what OS you are running, how much RAM is installed, how up-to-date your OS is... Griping for the sake of it methinks.
Actually I can double that with a 7 year laptop still working great for most things can't say that even for some new laptops.![]()

What's incredible is that Jobs put up a giant screen with that Samsung transcript mistake (sales were "small" instead of the correct "smooth").
Nothing like trying to put down the competition, but instead demonstrating a personal and corporate lack of knowledge of current events.

LOL! Good list. Please edit your post and add at least one of the following drivel statements
You know, I never quite understood this insult. I know people buy the iPod Touch mainly for gaming and so it might look like a "toy" but you can use it for research, business, navigation and other very un-toy-like things. And it's quite a brilliant little device.1. Anyway, it's just a big iPod.
Jobs pandering to the Chinese, "it's the year of..."
Very smart move.
Now each year going forward Apple can insert a product in and China will go wild with excitement.
Clever Steve, always scheming for more money.
as usual, the stream is pixelated, choppy, and constantly starts and stops (i have a 12 mb dsl connection). apple sucks at the internet.
It was great seeing Steve!
And the new iPad is an incredible leap forward for the platform. All rivals appear to be standing still. It's so obvious that Moto and Samsung and HP were competing against last year's model.
Well worth watching this keynote.
2011 is (also) the year of the iPad!

Because they were trying to exceed the experience provided by the original iPad. They tried to compete on specs because they couldn't compete in OS, application support or value. So they (Sammie and Moto) have produced tablets with great specs but nothing further. Now Apple is out with iPad 2, similar specs, and all the other advantages from before. The other manufacturers look like they're standing still, competing against last year's iPad.How is Moto and Samsung and HP were competing against last year's model?...
That's just silly. Download Quicktime or iTunes and watch the keynote. You don't know what you're missing if you haven't seen it.Also, too bad i don't have Quick Time player installed on any of my Windows computer and i gave my Macbook to my parents with Windows installed (also deleted Mac OS X)... So i can't watch the video...
