I remember the good old days when people would only email Steve for really extreme circumstances, usually after regular Apple support couldn't solve things after several tries. Now everybody thinks they have a right to have a personal email conversation with him...or a fake one.

So now they are calling it a problem after all? I think all anyone wants is for apple to come forward with a statement about the attenuation stuff. Is it a non-issue, can it be fixed, if so how, when...

troll

That is why I never really liked the publicity sent with it, because it potentially ruins a good resource.

It is cool that Steve was able to interact with customers some times, and I think he feels it is important. However, when people do shady stuff like this...

Well let us just hope Tom gets his just desserts.

Haha I was thinking the same thing too. So many people going ape crazy in the other thread and none of them posting here at all. Cat got their fingers? Maybe they superglued their finger to the bottom left corner of the phone and can not post here saying something like, "Oh yeah I guess I over-reacted to bad info. My bad".

I believe the other emails reported to be from Jobs are real, but I did not believe this one. It just didn't sit right.

Woot!

All the crybaby whiners on here ripping Steve Jobs for something he never said. What a bunch of tools!!!!!

How does it feel to be proven to be idiots?

LOLOLOL!!!!

Can't say I'm surprised. At-least Mr. Jobs knows that the consumer emails he responds to will most likely make their rounds on the "blogosphere" and that he needs to be cautious with his words.

Plus, I felt something was fishy with this alleged statement: "You may be working from bad data."

Seemed as if he was bad mouthing AT&T, which is something he would never do. Not in public, at least.

"It's just a phone" is NOT something a CEO of a company that makes phones would say. That was the impression I got when this "story" got out, so I'm not surprised to see it be confirmed a fake. Honestly, there seems to be a lot of stories of people just saying they got an Email from Steve Jobs with the only proof being a screenshot that any idiot with Microsoft Paint can fake.

I take these Steve Emails with a grain of salt.

as if you knew they were fake.
so you personally investigate everything you read online eh? and only then you share your wisdom with the rest of us, idiots?

do you have the new iphone? are you holding it the way god SJ has commanded? now he did say that you're holding it wrong. yes?

No kidding? I can certainly believe Steve Jobs would send out short terse replies, but an extemded insulting exchange with a customer. Why would anybody think he is that stupid?

What? The conspiracy theorist haven't already posted that this could be a stealth street-marketing reverse-discreditation campaign? Is this "Tom" guy also also a building demolitions expert seen in the vicinity of NYC on 9/10?

:)

Ok, so what if all the emails are fake? We still haven't heard a true statement as to what they're going to do about our phones!

I for one said they were fake from they moment they were posted look it up. I even questioned the wisdom of repeating such an obvious fake from the credibility challenged bgr..

This is the thanks he gets for actually responding to customer emails. Frankly, I wouldn't if I were him - it's a no-win situation.

Where are the apologies from the 400-500 people who ripped steve a new one in the other thread.

My thoughts exactly.

I'm starting to think every thread on this subject belongs in "Wasteland."
Maybe all of MacRumors, for that matter.

This entire thing is shameful.

I knew this had to be fake. A company that believes their devices are magical would never say "it's just a phone.". It just didn't make sense.

I thought a few of the responses seemed Steve-like, but I couldn't figure out why he would say it's not a problem and then "we're working on it" later.

Steve is a lot of things, but he is not stupid. He is probably one of the smartest people alive. If you see him in interviews, he is ALWAYS on top of things. He doesn't miss details. He doesn't say things thoughtlessly.

So that part didn't jive with me.

I'm trying to figure out who you want this apology to be directed towards - Steve Jobs, or the rest of the board? I'm also trying to figure out why anyone would give a damn about a message board apology. Are people really that invested in what's said about Steve Jobs?

Yes...I knew they were BS, as did most rational people on here...you know the people who have been laughing at the cliffjumpers, lawsuit seekers and other hysterical whackos.

It is one thing to wonder if ones phone has a reception problem but the majority of you guys have been so over the top spewing vitriol and making this place a nightmare.

Now it is coming back in your face...be man enough to own it. Unfortunately that is not in your character.

So....

The email exchange between Mr. Jobs and a "customer" is fake, eh?

Feel that rush of air? It's the trolls, jerks and FanDroids leaving the room...as fast as they can. :p

Not really. Most reasonable people would apologize to you for calling you a douche bag if they found out the reasons for calling you one were false. That is actually normal Human behavior. Me expecting it was actually a joke.

I wish Apple was as quick at responding to the reception issue people are having as they are to debunk fake e-mails. It's taken them 1 day to reply to that, and it's already been a week and still no official statement aside from a few silly e-mails from Steve.
