im sorry but that is ********. people need to get lives.

arn..hope you check it for validity when you get these claims.

unreal.

Oh boy, this is one of those times in which the frase "I told you so" fits perfectly ;)

You own a 3G, you have a iP4 on order, and what's that about fanboys?

I received my original iP4 on the 23rd, preorder. I returned it to the local Apple Store this past Tuesday as I had the yellow spots on the Retina Display. New phone is perfect.

Reception? I can duplicate the signal drop, from 5 full bars down to 2. However, there is no loss of call quality with the 2 bars, none. And I have not experienced any dropped calls.

Owning a product or products from a company doesn't make someone a fanboy.

Getting defensive or being snide to someone that has a qualm with the attitude or lack thereof that a company responds with to an issue DOES make someone a fanboy.

And as you said, your new phone doesn't have any reception issues. My 3GS drops to 1 bar if I hold it but I don't have dropped calls or receptions issues.

This is precisely why I haven't cancelled my order, because it may very well be a non-issue for me. As a current and prospective customer, however, I'd like to know that the company can reassure me that issues will be addressed and that my satisfaction is in fact a priority.

That is the way businesses used to be run. So yes, I'll say again, as a customer of Apple it is off putting to me to see that they respond so quickly to debunk fake e-mails, yet by comparison, have been slothful to address this reception issues that some people seem to be having. And by reception issue, I don't mean loss of bars, I mean actual call quality and calls being dropped.

So please tell me, being that I currently don't own an iPhone 4...how is that I don't really matter?

Heh, I'm glad about this. I'm getting sick and tired of people responding to certain posts by saying "Not to Worry". Prolly fake as well.

You ought to be worried now. trolls.

Just as fake as the 2011 = verizon iphone rumor.

What are you going to do if it's true?

Btw, I am on track for pulling this risk. I called this when WWDC was announced. I'm going to be laughing at people sooner or later because of people like you.

I am tired of seeing this kind of garbage article. why was it posted even it was not real? do you think that Steve Jobs has really time to talk with customers? I don't think so. what do you think? he is one of the biggest companies CEO. his schedule is way beyond than we think. that kind of line which deals with customers is very lower position people do. what a joke. just cut this **** off. everybody knows it is fake. of course if you're not stupid.

Hey arn (or anyone who knows),

Does MacRumors pay for "exclusive" email threads or stories, etc?

Honestly, it can be hard to tell. BGR posted headers, and frankly, I'd have believed it too. My original thought was that Apple PR was denying only part of it, since BGR did misattribute the last quote to jobs. But they seem pretty clear that the whole exchange was not true.

The other way since this guy uses gmail is to log into his gmail account and see the headers there for yourself. If it's there, I don't know how that could be faked.

Honestly faking headers these days is not as hard as it used to be. Every time someone gets an e-mail from Steve Jobs they post a full screen shot of headers. All it takes is a few cut/pastes from various different shots and you've got yourself a valid-looking e-mail "from Steve Jobs."

He really does. There have been many emails that have been from Steve Jobs.

Two verified ones recently were:

https://www.macrumors.com/2010/06/24/steve-jobs-describes-iphone-4-signal-strength-a-non-issue/ (later a statement from apple)

https://www.macrumors.com/2010/05/16/steve-jobs-and-blogger-in-heated-email-exchange/ (jobs verified during d8 interview)

I think with the exception of this one, the rest have been legit.

ya, but logging into gmail and seeing the headers would be hard to fake.

LOL

I repeated those rumors once too often myself. I won't believe it until its official. What was it W said? "fool me once shame on you . fool me twice.... I won't get fooled again.". LOL

The one time the rumor turns out to be true, you can laugh at me. The score will be in my favor. You can only be right once. How many rumors have been squashed to date?

And what if Fortune was pranked by a phony Apple PR?

and on and on... LOL

This "prank" would have been funnier if the prankster phoned into a show claiming to be Jobs only to break cover with something about Howard Stern's anatomy.... They should have called that idiot kramer on CNBC.

HAHAHAHA!!! oh I love how everyone jumped on SJ, and now it's fake. Love my i4. I will sit back and enjoy it, minus a few reception issues, until they make an official statement and fix it. Hahaha. People crack me up

Because tech websites like these have no standards of veracity or ethics. They like to think they are somehow "journalistic" but all they really do is post articles about things pertinent to Apple enthusiasts and comment on them. That is all well and good until something like this happens and people are made to look foolish and a company and it's presidents' reputation are tarnished unfairly. And what do they offer in the way of an apology for their slanderous/libelous (?) actions? Nothing really. You just wish they would hold themselves to the same standards of qualiity that they seem to want to hold Apple to.

Well, those of us that ACTUALLY OWN an iP4 understand that something is forthcoming. The rest of you, well, you really don't matter.

Seriously. I love my i4.

I'm a new Apple fanboy. And. Rather large fanboy if I may say so. One of the things that all my friends told me that helped me switch was the customer service. I have faith that this "issue" will be fixed. 1.7 mil angry owners is bad PR. I will continue to use my wonderful phone and watch the haters and chaos unfold.

It was entirely obvious that the story was fake as several people suggested (myself included) when it made front page news on MR earlier today. Jobs' comments in that story were completely out of character.

Poor reporting.

Ah, this is a rumor site. I enjoy reading the posts here like everyone else, however you take it with a grain of salt. It's like saying the NY Times is a legitimate reporting site. I'm just saying...

But it apparently happened anyhow, no?

No, not at all. Not a screenshot, or a copypaste. If *you* log into gmail and see the headers themselves. Can that be faked? I don't think so, off hand. not easily. anyone know any differently?

Those of you criticizing MacRumors for posting this story without "checking its validity" and all that other garbage should read the name of the site again.

Go ahead, read it again. Good. Now read it once more.
