I hope they bring back a 4 inch phone. I have an iPhone 6 atm and I do find it a bit too large for my hands. My main uses for a phone are pretty limited to calls, texting, facetime, checking mail. A 4 inch phone in rose gold would be cute but I'd settle for black if thats all they made.

I think a reason that Apple is hesitant to produce an updated, full-featured/functionality 4" phone is that they know that it will take business (perhaps substanial business) away from the larger screen versions and they can't make as much money off of it. Wish they didn't care about that and related 3 sizes (one of them being 4") for each iphone version.

Well, it should be easy.
Every company is trying to get more users, expanding on portfolios to attract the next crowd.
Apple is no exception, just look at the Mac line up, whether i/ pro/ or air models.
My take on the 4" iPhone is that, of course Apple will satisfy our demands, or we (the iPhone 4" crowd) will go somewhere else. And of course Apple know that we will not be satisfied with substandard performance, since we bought their 4" earlier on.
And possibly, since switching (back and forth between smartphone universes) is now so easy, the new (fully equipped) 4" may also attract some of the other guys in the android world.

I am very hopeful, the new 4" will be my dreamphone.

The iPhone 6 Plus was the first iPhone since the 3G that I just simply love and can't put down. I do miss some android features, but I can't live without iTunes and iWork.

The iPhone 7 plus sounds dreamy considering the added RAM and the speed. If Apple keeps iTunes and iWork on iOS then suffice it to say I'll be in the iOS camp for the foreseeable future.

I think your pumping up your own tyres a bit too much there!

A couple years back he put our a road map and it was mauled on this site, yet it was quite accurate. Some of it stuff that nobody expected as well. He gets it right more than most. I really don't understand the disdain people have for him.

I agree it was close to accurate. And sure he may be more accurate than most predictions posted in this site. But that doesn't say much. I stand by my statement, that myself and many other mac rumor readers or people that follow apple's patterns can come up with predictions just as accurate if not more accurate than Kuo

That being said I do appreciate Kuos predictions and am glad they are posted. It gives us a good baseline to discuss from.

This time around, I think Kuo is wrong.

Because it's like a grown man wanting to drive around in a pink Volkswagen Beetle.

What the hell is your problem? Does it offend you to see people satisfied with a smaller screen size than your own?

Firstly, if a man wants to drive a pink beetle, than thats fine anyway and secondly wanting a phone that is comfortable to use and suits a persons needs is nothing like driving a pink beetle.

Linking a man's masculinity to the size of his phone is absolutely hilariously crazy.

Again, I am a man, and I find the iPhone 6 to be an impractical size. I have average or lager than average hands, and I can't get my thumb to the to of the screen, and since almost all my phone usage is one handed, there is no point in me buying a phone that is useless. My iPhone 5 now is perfect in screen size and form factor. I can do all the iMessaging/texting, internet browsing, game playing, mail, ebay, news reading, twitter/facebook and so on, on it as the screen is more than big enough for me.

I can see a 4" phone arriving as Apple know the 4.7" size isn't for everyone.

I do think 'early in 2015' is a bit odd; most (all?) new phone releases occur in September. I think we'll be stuck with the current line up until the same time next year.

She doesn't need your permission, but she definitely need your advice.
And NO, she's not wise enough since she bought an 8 Gb iPhone 5C.
Apple didn't mislead her: the phone was advertised as an 8 Gb iPhone.

What did you say about my mum?

I don't own an iPhone, so forgive my my uninformedness, but are all these iPhones really necessary?
iPhone 6s + just came out and already there's talk of a new 4" iPhone months later!
And what, really, will be all that big of a difference between an iPhone 6s+ & an iPhone 7+?
I know iPhone's their cashcow & God bless 'em, but isn't this getting sort of rediculous?

Silence you! If people want new phones, they shall have new phones. This is all progress after all. The new iPhone will enrich our lives and make life itself much better. And don't forget:

Ending is better than mending. The more stitches, the less riches

I love my 5S. It's a keeper. It's the perfect size for me. It fits in my purse perfectly. I didn't go with the 6 because it was too big for me since my hands are smaller. I have my MBP that I use all the time, an iPad for news consuming at night, so I'm not always on my iPhone, just when I'm out.

My iPhone 5S runs super fast jailbroken on iOS 9.02. I'm going to avoid the lure of updating beyond iOS 9 to be on the safe side. I've learned what updating can do to an old device when I updated my iPhone 4 to one of the iOS 7 point updates which slowed it down to a crawl and missed the downgrade window.

When it is time to buy a new iPhone, I'd want a 4" one.

Not sure how the pricing would work if the components where the same and the standard sizes.

Base pricing??

$99 4 " iPhone
$199 4.7" iPhone
$299 5.5" iPhone

Doesn't seem like this would be favorable to Apple since it would cannibalize sales from the 4.7 model.

Maybe. Honestly, I wish the pricing was closer when looking at size differential so you never felt like you HAD to settle because of budget. Maybe something like this Apple would do:

$149 4" iPhone
$199 4.7" iPhone
$249 5.5" iPhone

50 dollars would be alot easier of an "upsell" to the flagship size or the largest size. The idea is someone primarily concerned with money would only be paying 50 bucks less, unless you convince them to go ahead to the flagship size for only 50 more. Then someone primarily concerned with size would still have the choice of a smaller form factor. Though with the way people buy phones now these "199, "299" price points are more irrelevant than ever. It could be beneficial to focus on setting prices that show attractive monthly payment prices or the total prices.

Kuo is better than most of these "analysts." I would like the idea of 3-4GB of RAM in the 7 Plus. But remember, Apple is known for sticking with the same stuff for years, call it continuity or price gouging, it's up to interpretation. My 5X and 6S Plus have the same quantity of RAM, but my iPhone runs better for me, so I owe it to the OS and the optimizations Apple made.

PLEASE! I had the 6 for a few months but decided to go back to the 5s because of the size, but my 5s is showing its age with iOS 9.2. 4" is perfect for me. Hopefully this will come true.

I sincerely hope Apple doesn't waste resources on a 4" screen because it's a relic of the past for the most part.

It would not be a waste of resources. Nor was the iPad Mini you so proudly put into your sig. I mean, they already had a 9.7 inch iPad so why make a 7.9? Different strokes for different folks. Please don't feel you need to buy one when Apple releases it.

I expect the iPhone 7 and 7S to still run 2gb of ram. Apple has always been very conservative with specs, 3gb of ram seems too much, too soon, especially since the 6S just got bumped to 2gb.

That's different. Apple releases those yearly. It has been 3 years since the 5S. Competitors are ignoring making flagship 4" devices. You don't go ahead and use a small 7" portable TV saying "gee, I hope Apple can make another one of these just with some changes." Get on with the damn times.

Suggesting to "get on with the times" baffles me a lot when discussing the topic. Large is the trend in smarphones right now, but a larger screen does not equal progress in technology or usability. Smartphones have been getting larger, but that change has not made them more pocketable or easier to handle. Moreover, a small device can be just as advanced as its big brothers, if the manufacturers were willing to make it so.

It's like telling someone they should "get on with the times" when they prefer a 12-inch MacBook over a 15-inch MacBook Pro, size-wise.

I'm not trying to argue with you but last time I checked Apple also releases an iPhone on a yearly basis as well. As for the TV thats comparing apples to oranges because I can't carry a tv in my pocket. Its understandable that you prefer a larger device, and I don't think anyone here (at least myself) is suggesting that Apple quit making the larger iPhones. We just want something smaller to fit in our pockets.

I'm not going to say anymore. I respect your opinion and feelings on the matter. I hope you can respect ours. Good day sir.

er the 5s came out in late summer 2013. How is that 3 years?

An A9 with 2gb of RAM would probably be more than enough to make a 4" iPhone run at 60fps at all times. And that should be the goal.
