3GB of RAM? Welcome!
Force Touch? Good!
Smaller Battery? No!

Let me see how Apple will go for this generation.

This will make the 4" lovers happy.

It's good that there will be three sizes. Kinda like iPads, laptops, etc. There will be something for everyone.

Soon they will be casting Goldilocks and the Three Bears for an upcoming TV commercial. "This one is juuuust right!"

Meanwhile... I just took delivery of an iPhone 6S Plus... and I love it!

Lol at 3gb ram. That will come in four years and early 2016 buajajaja

Come on mr. I know it's a slow news week but come on.

I can't see this being successful. The people whining for a 4 inch iPhone don't want an "upgraded" 5s, they want the same latest flagship iPhone but just with a 4 inch screen instead.
This coupled with the rumor that they will upgrade the RAM again in the Plus after having just upgraded the memory in the 6s makes me this his predictions are just BS.

I'd buy a 4" phone with an A9. Lack of force touch would be really annoying, as there's no reason for only the bigger phones to have the high end features. I'd still probably do it though (have the 6 now and am not bothered about the lack of force touch).

The Plus tier of iPhone adds a meaningful improvement to everything the regular one was already good at. Well...everything except performance, since the Plus has a higher resolution display. And once you stick the same SoC that smoothly drives a lower resolution display into a higher one, the performance decrease is inevitable. Perhaps starting with iPhone 7 Apple will finally make the Plus perform faster with increased RAM, and faster CPU/GPU if we're lucky. One thing's for sure, it will come with an unapologetically tiny amount of 16 GB base storage.

I've been wistfully re-reading this post. it seems it's pure speculation on Kuo's part.

However, I've pointed out previously that Apple went to the effort of re-tooling the 4" iPod touch with roughly the iPhone 6 internals. If they were abandoning 4", they would have scaled up the iPod touch too.

Basically there is an A8 4" device that is only 3 and half months old. This alone makes me still optimistic regarding the fate of the 4" phone :)

All we need to do is look at the source of this rumor and realize we can ignore it.

On the other hand, a lower cost iPhone would hit the spot. My 3GS still rocks and I don't really need all the performance of 6S so a slightly slower, smaller model would be great for upgrade time.
You obviously are quite misinformed. Ming-chi kuo has been spot on several years in a row with iPhone predictions. If he says it, it's likely to happen.

My decision on getting the iPhone 7 will be determined by iOS 10. The iPhone hardware is better than it's ever been but goddamn iOS has been sucking since 7.0 so hopefully iOS 10 will bring a refreshed GUI (to match the new OS X), some useful features throughout the OS, more polished performance and hopefully a revamped music app to make up for the absolute POS app that was introduced in iOS 8.4. So basically, I know the iPhone hardware will undoubtably be great but if the software remains as crappy as it's been lately, I'm afraid I can't justify the purchase of a new iPhone (or iPad for that matter).

I bet they won't do a 64. I bet they'll follow the iPad pro model and to a 32 base model and 128 if you want extra. They'll probably increase the price by 50 bucks on the base. To me, it wouldn't matter. I'm ok with a 16 still existing. Not everyone uses smartphones to the fullest extent. Some people use them for phone calls and texts only... or work devices.

I think 32GB will become the base for the iPhone 7. I really wonder tho if they will keep the screen sizes the same 4.7" and 5.5".
Why would they change the screen size? There is still apps not updated to support the 6 and 6 plus screen size...

Why does the GUI need a refresh? They just did that in 7... I'd say every 5 have a big overhaul. I'm more concerned with features and stability. Looks are a distant 12th. Btw, Apple Music app is pretty nice. It works well and is very stable. The only valid complaints were from iCloud music library people who came from Match. Those issues are resolved anyway so it's moot now

I'd love a top of the line 4" phone (new processor, ram, camera, Apple pay, 3d touch, etc), but processor upgrade is better than nothing, I suppose.

I don't care if they still offer 16gb base. Make it 16mb for all I care. I always get the storage capacity phone that I need. I really don't understand this complaint. To me it sounds just like: "I want more for less." Ok friend, don't we all...
