No, he's not, but he went too far with the 3 Gb prediction IMHO.

I'm confused by people saying the Plus model could use the extra RAM. Sure, more is always nice, but the 6S+ handles multitasking and everything else excellently with 2GB, and it certainly doesn't "need" anything more for the time being.
IM NOT buying the 3 Gb rumors because there is no need for that in current iOS implementation.

I know a LOT of people who would be thrilled with a new 4" device and are staying on their iPhone 5 and 5s devices until a 4" upgrade comes down the line. I think Apple is missing out on a good 10-15% of the market there. As for me, I'm really happy with the 4.7" size after trying the 5.5" for the last year. But would Apple really use the same form factor as the 5s? That part seems unlikely to me, especially considering how dated it would look next to a redesigned iPhone 7. But thicker might be necessary in a smaller footprint to keep the battery powering that beastly A9. They'd likely have to clock it down a little. But 2GB is crucial for future software updates when buying a phone in late 2016. Anything less wouldn't cut it. Most of the 4 inch advocates that I know don't mind having a chip that is only a generation behind. No 3D Touch would suck. I know my wife likes the Live Photos I take of our daughter all the time and would also like to do that but with a device the same size as her iPhone 5.

As for the Plus getting more RAM—I really doubt it unless there is some software reason for it. We just got 2GB after three years! Although Apple did put 4GB into the iPad Pro. In my heavier usage with things like lots of browser tabs (content blockers also help) and switching apps, I don't see much need for more RAM until 2017 at the earliest. The iPad could use more RAM before the iPhone with the split multitasking. Maybe the Plus will get split multitasking? That would be weird. Although I do find myself wishing for PIP on the iPhone. But I usually just pull out my iPad if I want to keep one of my video podcasts, baseball (yay Royals!) or whatever down in the corner or off to the side while browsing.

The 4 inch iPhone is still a good idea. If they'd made the larger phones first, we'd be calling it an "iPhone mini" and extolling the virtues of the compact form factor. I love my wife's 6 and my 5s. The 6 is actually kind of an uncomfortably large tweener.

The new UI is still as broken and unfinished looking as it was in the early iOS 7 betas. It still looks unpolished and childish and seeing as the design refresh with Yosemite proved that Apple can mature the flatter UI design language (which they did on the desktop OS) and implement it on their mobile OS.

For example, OS X still uses traditional looking buttons (that actually loom like buttons) instead of plain text hyperlinks which is kinda ironic considering that the normal button style is better suited for iOS since it's a touch-based OS and the OS X-style buttons are more inviting for touch than plain text.

The new default icons on OS X have enough detail and depth while not going completely overboard with gloss and texture and still retain the distinct Apple look. The iOS icons on the other hand, still look amateurish and inconsistent with one another. Say what you will about the old iOS icons but they flowed together on the home screen much better than have since iOS 7. I believe that the iOS icons would look better and much more refined if they took some design cues from their desktop counterparts.

Also, less use of white in app windows. The translucent gray that Apple uses on their OS X windows provides the right amount of contrast while still allowing the content to shine. I think this design choice could translate nicely over to iOS.

I would like Apple to rethink their current strategy with Music to make listening to my music collection an enjoyable and elegant experience (which it hasn't really been since iOS 6.1). Apple should go back to basics here and have the default music app be a simple iPod player again while spinning off the radio and streaming features into separate apps to streamline everything.

While stability and performance are still a lingering issue with the most recent iOS versions, the GUI has been neglected and is starting to look quite stale again and honestly that is a big part of the picture. Apple does not need to do as radical of an overhaul as 6 to 7, having a moderate design refresh for iOS taking cues from OS X seems like a no-brainer and would make iOS devices look more desirable, attractive and functional again.

I wasn't crazy about skeuomorphism, but their flat implementation is just baloney. It's like they tossed the book on decades of good UI design research and know-how. And, then constantly breaking apps... and it seems the teams making the various apps don't ever talk to each other. If it weren't for the nice hardware designs, you might wonder if it's still Apple these days.

Or they could just get rid of most of the bezel on the existing phones.

Of course this means a smaller battery but that can be offset by moving to a 10nm chip next year along with an OLED display (or bring over variable refresh rate from the iPad Pro for battery savings).

First off KGI Securities is smoking CRACK---there will NEVER BE AN IPHONE 4 guys!! those days are long gone, get over it. Apple will only offer 2 sizes of iphones and I promise one will not be the small 4 inch

It took Apple like 3 generations to go from 1GB to 2GB.... no way they will do 3GB in just 1 generation..

Kuo makes stupid predictions early and then changes his predictions as more concrete leaks come out.... why do we keep giving this guy credit?

Almost everything in any business the bigger size product has better everything. Get over it.

It used to be that smaller phones were the exotic, high-end ones that everyone envied.

I know there is a real use-case for bigger phones these days... but, the same can be said for a 4" phone-sized-phone. The problem is that Apple never gave an actual choice, so they don't know how it would sell. It might outsell the 4.7" for all we know and be the flagship model.

Doubt it'll happen, Apple is known for reducing options to make it easy for customer to choose from. They're fine to lose some marketshare and maintain their brand as a premium product.

Ppl wanted a cheaper iPhone, Apple gave them the 5C, doesn't sell as well as people expected as turns out people still willing to pay more for the iPhone 5S/6.

Does that mean a truck has better family features and is better for a family than a Corolla sized car?

Screen size is a bloody easy choice to choose - Its merely a matter of deciding "Which size will suit me the best?" rather than deciding between technical aspects of a product - what you're talking about is Apple in the 90s "Should I buy the Performa 450? or the 475? One has a bigger HD, one has a better processor".

Should Apple only sell one Macbook and One iPad size because it would be more simple? Or possibly a better question would be, should Apple stop selling two sizes of Apple watch, as that closely aligns to this as screen size is subjective choice based on individual needs and in some cases, hand size, just like wrist size in relation to the Apple Watch.

The 5c still sold pretty damn well anyway - just not as much as the 5S.

It has to have 2GB RAM, as I'm doubting once Apple gets everything in the current lineup to 2GB, we'll see iOS start running slow on 1 GB devices. Buying a 1 GB device now is just shortening the lifespan.

But, I really do want it to be equivalent to the 6s in hardware. I suppose I'd *settle* for 1 generation back in hardware, as what choice do I have? It's either that or an even older 5s.

That said, I'd be quite happy with 6s guts stuffed into the 5s case (if possible). IMO, the 5s is a much nicer design than the 6/6s.

What was wrong with the 5c? Wasn't it just the previous years model in a plastic case? This year, they still have the 5s which is two years old (and it's not even in a new case)...

Gary

Older hardware... too little storage.

The point is (for we folks begging for a 4" phone) not to have a cheap-o model, but to have a phone-sized-phone. We'd like it to be the most current hardware and storage options.

No kidding... saying Apple should stick with the current 4.7" and 5.5" screen sizes (and not do a 4") because... well, it's 2015 and bigger is better... is kind of like saying Apple should reduce their laptop line to just a 17" Macbook Pro. Everyone will just have to get used to it.

It would be nice if they just stuck a gsm/gps radio in the iPod Touch 6 and called it an iPhone. Would buy.

Sure, I would too. That would be better than a 6s. But, what I'd rather have is a 4" 6s.

I'm glad they are making bigger phones, as it's what some want. But, I guess my argument is that they should *always* have a phone-sized-phone in the line-up, since, well, it's a phone. (i.e.: 4") :)
Yep.

My guess is they couldn't get the A9 to cooperate within the thermal limits of a 4" design for this year.

But now they think they can next year.
