Let me know when the US government had to step in to force either brand to recall more than 8 million vehicles while levying a fine in the hundreds of millions over non-compliance.

The brands build garbage. End of story.
Not only is that not the end of the story, but there is no story altogether. I’ve owned Kias for 10 years now. Absolutely incredible vehicles.

I googled "byd car" (because I'd never heard of it), and got their website, with a video showing off their (electric?) busses, trash trucks, forklifts, and monorails. Scrolling down the page there was a car, so I clicked on it. It said "new website coming soon", with a place to enter an email address for notification when further info is available. It doesn't look like they have any passenger car presence in the US market at this point. Not something I would jump on.
It’s just been expanded to Australia. Not sure about US

Only had the car for 2 months, but the iPhone as a Tesla key has not failed me yet and i wouldn't change a thing
Got the card in the wallet just in case, but have not had to use it yet.
Same here. Never having to carry a key is awesome

Do you know how a Tesla fob works? The Tesla App is built to iOS standards which means you can disable location services from iOS if you're that concerned.
Yes, it's not that simple. you can read about how they stole tesla cars in Europe.

Ford has been doing the correct thing right now, which is to have full EVs and Hybrids. You can't supplant gas overnight and Ford's stepping stone of using Hybrids is a good way to start.
Ford was never going to supplement gas overnight on their own, the entire auto industry can't even do that overnight. Hybrids are a bit of a joke, they might as well get a small turbo engine. I guess if you can't make a good BEV and your expertise is still engines you'll still stick one in. Gas still needs to be burnt in the hybrids, even the plug one ones as it goes off and you carry all the burdens of having a combustion engine such as annual oil changes servicing. Then you carry all the weight of a battery and the cost of it. Since you need to accommodate both you lose performance as you can only fit in a small battery and a small engine. It's like bringing two g/f's to the xmas dinner

Hybrids are not a bad choice. Have you seen the city gas mileage on Hybrids? You could never get that on regular ICE engines. Yes you still burn gas with Hybrids, but the burning is done efficiently as the excess energy isn't just wasted, it's converted to electrical power.

It looks like they just added support to the app, but I couldn’t find where/how to add the key. Apparently on Android they have a designated app to create the digital key. Does anyone know anything more?

Would definitely like to know if you got this working
Not yet. I’m waiting for some tech publication *macrumors* to investigate and explain what’s happening. Or to Hyundai to be more clear? I wonder if at the same time they submitted the ‘virtual key’ app (similar to android) to the App Store but hasn’t gone live yet?

The key should be added from the car manufacturer’s app to the Apple wallet.
Right, except that function is nowhere to be found within the Hyundai’s app, even though their App Store update note says it’s there.
