Release notes for the next build of Snow Leopard:

- This update fixes the fact that Snow Leopard is slow, buggy and unreliable overall, and makes it almost as good as Leopard used to be.

Snow leopard is the best OS i've ever used and i used a lot of them :)

Though I wonder if some of the Windows 7 vs. Mac OS 10.6 gaming performance (pre 10.6.4) has to do with developers working more on optimizing for 7, or has to do with differences in graphics API's.

The severity of the issues introduced with 10.6.4 suggest though that it is Mac OS X's fault. I suppose this should inspire hope, since that would mean it can be fixed with a software update.

I think they will fix the drivers. Because steam gave mac gaming a boost.
And a while ago I read a news message:

http://www.cultofmac.com/steam-for-...to-ati-nvidia-apple-driver-improvements/47383

In which a guy from Valve says that they are working together with Apple and Nvidia and ATI to improve graphics performance :)

So hopefully Apple will update the graphics drivers, especially for Nvidia GPU's in 10.6.5. Keep your fingers crossed ;)

They need to sort out battery life and fix Safari hangs and speed

I've even moved across to Chrome because Safari is unusable for me

I know the person working on Mac OS X is probably busy, but is it too early for them to consider fixing the Finder -10810 / file system hanging bug? I just love rebooting, and it hasn't quite been a full year yet.

+1

I hope you are right.

Finder 10.6.5

Not sure when this came about, but found it humorous. If you click 'About Finder' it shows Finder version 10.6.5.

Probably already reported, but I just accidentally clicked on it and had a chuckle.

I hope this fixes this mysterious keyboard dropouts and the airport dropout issues (or has that been narrowed down to a router problem?). Either way, updates are good.

I'm not in the camp that thinks everything is going touch-screen just yet...

Ditto on the touch-screen.

Talk about major reduction in productivity - if you have to point/touch the screen with a large arm activity, vs small finger movement on keyboard or mouse (or trackpad). Any large arm-hand to screen input is necessarily going to be slower and much lower accuracy.
Though, there will be aerobic advantage to having to wave your hands and arms around a lot ;)

As it is, when I service client's machines (any brand) one of the constant work items is cleaning off the gunk from the screen. If one is constantly touching the screen, you will lose some of your screen clarity from all the grease, oil, dirt (and other debris we shall not name) smearing.

While it seems likely that some features of IOS will be adopted into the Mac OS X line, wholesale conversion seems unlikely to me.

SSD TRIM support would be nice and maybe even a must now that their new iMac and MP have a SSD BTO option.

Numerous times already. It's an historic 'error' [upped once too many].

TRIP is a requirement for the new 27-inch iMac's SSD BTO's.

Other obvious changes are:

Bug fixes.
Updated/new drivers.
New iChat with FaceTime.
iLife 11 support for a new application.

But that's just a wild guess actually.
