I used to love ClickToFlash, but it seems like they never update it. It used to actually allow you to play all YouTube videos as Quicktime elements, not with the Flash thing, and that was wonderful because it killed the ads and annotations and ran much faster.

Since I have AdBlock, I don't really have a need for ClickToFlash since it only blocks stuff that I need.

Both seem to have been updated this past week.

Because it's faster to wake it up from sleep than turn it on, and you're not saving much power by not leaving it on.

It wasn't a serious question, I just fail to understand why someone has to ask that question every single time a shut down is mentioned.

As for startup times, it's 7 seconds to desktop for me, so that really isn't an issue either.

99% of the time I put mine to sleep.

Because they're creating an issue that need not exist.

If you seldom shut down or turn on, why does it matter how fast that process is?

I want to know why anybody would complain that their computer boots up 5 seconds longer than anticipated .

What's a few seconds ? Is life somehow going to be fractured ?

Yep!

It's a thing. Always has been. Not sure why.

On the rare occasion I actually shut mine down, I turn it on in the morning, go refresh my coffee, it's ready to go when I get back :)

My MacBook started having issues awakening from sleep and required a restart. This didn't happen until I upgraded to ML. Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

same issue. i upgraded my mbp with an SSD a while ago and it always used to shut down almost instantly. now its taking quiet some time on ML. almost as if i still got my old school hdd inside

So is your SSD a third party or Apple supplied drive ? If 3rd party you might want to check if a) the drive supports TRIM, and; b) if TRIM is enabled. TRIM won't be enabled by default for non-apple drives.

I have a 3rd party SSD with TRIM enabled (supported). I too am having longer shutdown times. Also have "noatime" mounting of the drive.

Also having some serious battery draining of the computer. Somethings causing it to deplete rather quickly compared to Lion.

Try getting it through the Extensions Gallery, and make sure you allow menu items to say "load all flash" when you "right"-click.

Yeah I did that, but the Extensions Gallery version no longer has the one feature I really care about, which is the QuickTime YouTube loading. And with AdBlock, what Flash is there to block?

Let's hope 10.8.1 restores functional Exchange support.
Also noticed the desktop background issue.

We will release no software....before you pay for it...

"Apple has also likely been working on OS X 10.8.1 since some time prior to the launch of Mountain Lion, as it seeded the final version to developers over two weeks ahead of the public launch and undoubtedly continued to find issues requiring attention after that time."

Then why not delay release until major bug fixes are in place? I realize that no release can be perfect, but if it requires a substantial upgrade even for the ".0" release there is something wrong, isn't there? Does Apple actually have a functioning QA department other than its installed base of users?

Ah, Click2Plugin was updated. I had it before, and it wasn't very good. They re-added the QuickTime (and added Airplay) features, so that's great! If only it could play QuickTime in-browser without opening QT Player... well it's good enough I guess.

Does this mean I will soon me able to zoom in mail with the trackpad gesture? It seems inconsistent that I am unable to there.

I have it on a 2009 mbp and a 2011 iMac and it's largely been a success. I only have two issues.

1. The battery issue that people have already mentioned. I havent properly tested it but I get the impression that battery life isn't as long under mountain lion.

2. I have a western digital NAS that is attached to my router and I rarely had problems before but my iMac frequently fails to back up and then next time I boot up the back up works fine. The iMac is wirelessly connected to the router.
