Minor updates like new processors or even just small things like LED screens (with the Macbook Pro) don't require events. However I think that they require events for case revisions.
That makes sense

Well I hope to God you are right but I still remain skeptical, I think that it may but again I hope I'm wrong. I'm listening to the Financial report hoping something may be leaked![]()
You forgot the MacBook redesign in 2006.That makes sense![]()
Widescreen iBook <3You forgot the MacBook redesign in 2006.
The design of the current MacBook is great and I don't think it needs to be revised yet. It has a great design that is still modern and stylish.
But the MBP does need a redesign as it's just about starting to show it's age. Also, I want one for the new school year so I really hope they update in September or before.
"We also plan to announce state of the art products that..." (I forgot the rest of what the dude said)
"state of the art new products that our competitors won't be able to touch"

If the redesigned MacBook Pros and MacBooks are released in September, then they would be released at the tail end of Q3, and so wouldn't affect Q3 sales much, but they would affect Q4 sales a lot. From the Conference Call: "Meanwhile, in the conference call, Apple executives repeated referred to a "product transition" that may affect Q4 revenue numbers. Typically, "product transitions" represent existing product line revisions. In this case, the MacBook and MacBook Pro have been widely expected to be revised in the coming months with both models starting to approach the end of their lifecycles."
So does this mean we are going to be waiting a lot longer for the new MBP? Surely this cant be good news. Opinions?

Macbook pro is not advertised as "new" anymore on Apple website ....![]()
"The new, more powerful MacBook Pro.
The latest Intel processor, a bigger hard drive, plenty of memory, and even more new features all fit inside just one liberating inch. The new MacBook Pro has the performance, power, and connectivity of a desktop computer. Without the desk part."

Oh, right. I was thinking Q4 financial = Q3 calendar, but I wasn't 100% sure, so I posted that instead.Didn't they just announce Q3 results? We're already in Q4. This sounds like real good news to me.
Windows and Linux are already there. They've been supporting multiple CPUs for ~15 years already and had years and years of optimisation to take advantage of multiple CPUs. When Apple delivered the 8-core Mac Pro at the beginning of this year, we'd already had 8-core Windows and Linux servers in production for nearly a year.
Heck, in 1996, Windows NT 4.0 support 32 CPUs.
Thanks for your response to be question. I was wondering however, if it would be possible to buy the old case design the day or so after the new one is released. A mac store isn't an option for me because I go to school in Fargo and the closest store is hundreds of miles away. Would I be stuck buying from the macmall or amazon or refurbished?
Does anyone have a firm hunch on what the redesign would include? Like will they change the keyboard to the mba? Will they get rid of the optical drive? Will they merely increase the trackpad and maybe included blu-ray? Change the latches to magnetic? If macrumors gets a date, my best bet might be to buy the old one a week before and then wait and see to return it. But I think purchasing a mbp and not opening is pure torcher!!!!!!
What are the chances this is all a bunch of crap and we are all getting over excited for nothing? If Jobs does need to release this at a conference, when is the next conference that he would possibly release it?
