I wouldn't trust just one sight's opinion. besides I think it make more sense for this to occur:
August-New MB and MBPs (although I wouldn't mind this tuesday: July 29th)
September-New Ipods (after the 15th so the college kids still get the old ones)
and then somewhere in there or in October they'll release their new mystery tablet or whatever. Ipods are most definitely coming out after the 15th of september due to the college deal. So why would apple release a new full line of ipods AND new MBs and MBPs all so close to each other. While at the same time losing laptop sales to college students on the fence about getting a mac who decide to buy the recently updated PC instead of the 6 month old mac. Apple's got to release the new MBs and MBPs before september or that's bad business.

Sounds like a good possibly to me.

EDIT: 1,000th post woot.

1002nd post. WOOt.

But seriously, it would be better for Apple if they released it next week or at least tell us what is going on. But I am in no hurry. Still in High school. I wouldn't mind late-sept. 16th birthday time for me.

well bummer. Looks like apple will use the school promo to use up there current stock for a late september release so...

I'm going to the Apple Store and buying a MBP tomorrow. The current machine is awesome! I'm tired of waiting. I waited 6 months. I want the free ipod touch, which I'd miss out of it I wait until sept. The next gen MBP will be about the same performance wise, so I won't miss out on much. And besides what are we really looking at: bigger glass track pad (who cares, i mostly use a mouse), chicklet keyboard (hate it! Love the current keyboard), small performance boost. Plus the current design is a legendary design that I can forever have (I'm the kind of person who collects and keeps everything! ). How many times have we seen the MBP in tv ads and posters? Its design will forever be remember. More so than the MBA or any others.

I don't want the distraction during college. Its just not worth wasting my time on these forums anymore. I should've just bought it months ago. But you can't look back. Tomorrow I will MORE than enjoy my new MBP and will be ok regardless of what happens with the new one. Besides there's always a chance you take with a gen A product. The current design is pretty well worked out. I understand those who will wait. Maybe its the smart thing, but for the time I'll wast waiting for it, its just a machine. God and people are so much more worth it!

God Bless to you all! Best of wishes with whatever you decide!

Hi,
according to the "MacBook Touch" rumor, it looks like the MB could be released only in September.

Does Apple always release MB AND MBP in the same time ? or they release them sometimes separately ?

thx,
Tex.

well given the fact that the MBP came out BEFORE the macbook, the answer is no.

I'm thinking the macbook will share the same design cues as the air, but in the same form factor as the Macbook.

White Macbooks

Do the current white Macbooks (2008) still have discoloration problems? I am not a heavy user - this will be my first :apple: :) So would it be better to buy a current Macbook (at a discount) when the new (Aluminium?) Macbooks are launched or would it be better to save up a bit more money and get the latest Macbook when it is launched?
Thanks

Get the updated MacBook. Would be worth more for your money than the current MacBook and there is a rumour some where out there that the next MacBooks would not have integrated graphics cards any more.
Please don't quote me on that. :)

Apple has released them separately except for the last two (November 2007 and February 2008) times.

If there's an Apple Event featuring those notebooks, we will most likely see them simultaneously.

Thanks for the reply. I'm gonna save up and get the "latest and greatest" Macbook when it is launched. I just know it WILL be amazing! :D

OK I need to buy a laptop (re-entering the mac world after a 15+ year hiatus).

Any ideas when they are due out, or are the ones you have been discussing already out?

Thanks.

Rumors point to October 14th

Thanks. The obvious next question is based on previous experience is it really wise to buy a new apple laptop when it first comes out? (assuming the Oct. 14th announcement doesn't come with a Jan shipping date for the new laptops).

95% of what I do is simple word processing, e-mail, surf the net. 5% is viewing high resolution medical images (I'll be using external monitor for this). I do not do any data image processing as such, but the image viewing application (for which I have to use windows/internet explorer) may be processor intensive.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

It is smart of apple to have this event after the ipod event. With the recent rumors going around about an updated MB/P/A, it is only the thinking of Jobs to have everybody up on their seats waiting untill the last day that they can stand, to throw themselves at these new laptops. Is this a bad thing? No, but it is kinda frustrating when talking to COLLEGE students about getting the best laptop for school when the updated version of these things will be coming out after mid-terms. Also I am disappointed in what I have read in this particular blog about the update of MB/P. Keep in mind folks that the new OS X Snow Leopard will be coming out next year and we will be updating the new MB/P around this operating system. Sure it will be running leopard, but, these baby's are going to be built for speed plan and simple. Of course the new designs are really amazing, but speed is where it is going to be at. Apple is looking ahead with the new models and granted the new operating system will be out NEXT year, even still they are going to be built to withstand the transition with no buggy side effects to the blazzing speed that snow leopard will have. It has been questioned whether or not to make a small update to the MBA, but, it is not looking good as it is being called a "minor and non important update at this time". However the MBA's are capable of running at a fast pace when snow leopard is introduced but will have an update for snow leopard to run even more smoothly. Apple is going to put all their power into these new MB/P because that is our biggest "money maker" (as far as our computer's are concerned) and they are going to hit home I do believe. Anyone though that can't wait and buys a PC, well you just have no faith or taste. I don't care what sony makes or acer they are not worth your money and cannot in no way, form, shape or fashion stand up to the Mac. Need it be iMac, MB/P/A, or the Mini there is absolutely no comparison with a PC. So if everybody can just wait a little longer we are going to blow you away with the "new". Just take it from me as someone who was put in macrumor "for a reason" it WILL be worth the wait....

Excited as well! :D

Hope it does happen within a month, or if :apple:'s gonna release the notebooks incrementally, hope they all happen before New Year and not during/after MW.

I expect there are at least redesigns, aside from the obligatory performance bumps.

No rumors have pointed to a 2009 redesign. All rumors (that say anything about a redesign) have pointed to a 2008 redesign. Everything you've heard about a 2009 redesign is speculation only.

it's up to you if you want to be an early adopter or not, but in general it seems like people have had some issues with the first versions of product, then apple works out the kinks. i waited to get this powerbook at one of the best times, but then the intel switch was ominous...

Aluminum Macbooks...

All i am saying is Aluminum, 2.5~2.8 ghz, 2gb, 250 gb, superdrives...October 7th. Say what you will.

Oh and i like this idea too

New MacBooks

I really hope they come out with a MacBook/MBP soon; I've had mine for more than 2 years and it's so beat up =[ I've taken it to service twice already!
