Well, Transmission runs 24/7, but other than that and Mail, no other applications run at night. I may have overrushed, stating that this is a software flaw, cause it seems that it only affects the aluminum iMacs. The Apple forums and various blogs also report this issue. Here's an example. Do you own such a Mac?

Apple has also informed developers that the new Safari 4 public beta will not install on the current 10.5.7 build. The last update to Leopard, OS X 10.5.6, was released in December.

I wouldn't make that assumption - we still haven't even received a release date for Snow Leopard, so I could see a couple more updates to 10.5 after this one...
It only says it won't install. What about users who have already installed Safari 4 and are upgrading. Do we have to interpret this as 'won't work with 10.5.7'? I'm not necessarily sure.
Maybe Apple will finally fix the issue preventing safari users from logging into enterprise outlook web access webmail. It used to work fine but for the last few years, newer releases of safari have blocked this. It is ridiculous. Works fine with firefox.
Are you a developer? If not you have nothing to worry about. This 10.5.7 is still in pre-release status so by the time they release it to the public i'm sure it'll be fixed. It would be stupid not to.
Actually, it did work perfect in Tiger, but with the introduction of Leopard something broke. There's a few threads in this forum with other users complaining about this issue (here for instance). What's strange is that Mail plays the sound sometimes!

Just curious, have you experienced network problems? I sure, haven't!![]()
Okay, I must say that it's frustrating that users have such different experiences regarding this. I think I'll have to reinstall Leopard when 10.5.7 comes, to see if the problem persists. It's worked flawlessly in Leopard on both my Aluminum iMac and my MacBook since day 1 (literally, I installed it the moment we were allowed to open the boxes.)
I do, as you can see above. It sleeps through the night without any trouble, and I have left Transmission open at night as well without trouble. Just because you don't have any GUI applications open, though, doesn't mean you don't have anything running. In addition, did you check to see if your computer is set to Wake for Ethernet Administrator Access? I've known that to be related, because other devices may be polling for services.
Thanks for your suggestions!rockstarjoe said:Hello, I had a problem with my screen frequently waking. I found that it was caused by a combination of 2 things: 1) having Screen Sharing enabled and 2) having port 5900 forwarded on my router to my IP address, so that I could use screen sharing from outside of my firewall. Any random ping coming into port 5900 would wake my screen. I never found a good solution to the problem, I just turned off the port forwarding for that port on my router. Hope that helps!
I agree. But it doesn't mean it's less widrespread either!Nope, not related to the computer at least. Doesn't mean that problem isn't more widespread.
Hopefully it will fix it... I had the Apple store put 2 new logic boards in my MBP and it still flickers, even though they insist it's fine...I really hope this fixes the graphic issues with the MBPro's. The random subtly screen flicker is a thrashing.

Tiger was at 10.4.10 when Leopard came out, and Apple released 10.4.11 not too long after. So small updates are not really an indicator for the next OS release.
This is a good few weeks if not months away still..
Does anybody remember how long developers had 10.5.6 before it was released to the public?

My load times for these sites were brilliant.
Don't even begin to tell me how much your ISP is giving you mbps wise

Does upgrading to S4 effect things like Bookmarks?
For multiple accounts on the same Mac?
What about when downgrading back to S3?
Thanks.
Cool. Any predictions when the update will be available?
