Although that was the only time Apple has ever released a numbered update for the previous OS version after the next point update was out.

10.5.6 was first seeded to developers last October 23, and eventually released December 15.

Cool.. so hopefully we're looking at 3 or so weeks before the final release! YAY!! :D

Maybe Apple will finally fix the issue preventing safari users from logging into enterprise outlook web access webmail. It used to work fine but for the last few years, newer releases of safari have blocked this. It is ridiculous. Works fine with firefox.

It works fine for me but I have to manually put '/owa' after the address (so only 'https://webmail.company.com/owa' works and not 'https://webmail.company.com'. Maybe that would fix the problem you're having?

It does, however, only work in 'simple mode' or something, so it looks and feels much more basic than under Windows, where it can use ActiveX objects. However I prefer it the way it is on the Mac, it loads much quicker.

Yeah I use simple mode on Firefox, its better :D

Please fix the wireless issues with 802.1X where it never remembers the password and often requires AirPort to be turned off and on again to fix this.

This happens on all Macs within my University, not just mine.

Plus one. I run an airport extreme and once in a blue moon I have to re-enter my password after awaking from sleep. Happens with all 4 macs in the house every now and again. If I never ever lose my keychain details again I will be a much happier boy.

Once in a blue moon? It's every single time after waking from sleep since 10.5.6. And a recent Vista update caused just the same issue on the Windows side. Something about it not saving the plain text password correctly. That's my newest gripe.

Other things, like making the iTunes dashboard widget work at all, stopping other wake-from-sleep issues like wrong colour calibration suddenly being applied, brightness being set to minimum, inability to connect to SMB shares, etc. would just be icing at this point - basically given up on them as it has now been almost 18 months (4.5 years for the iTunes widget actually, that was screwed in Tiger too).

Mind you, they did finally restore minimised window icon badges to QuickTime windows in the QT 7.6 update, after I submitted the feedback with every new version since 7.0 ... so maybe if I submit on the iTunes widget for the 20th time with 10.5.7 they might get to it. Of course they still haven't made the 'export' dialog in QT remember where I want it to appear, so it's all a bit of a mixed bag.

Edit: oh and I forgot the most annoying Leopard bug - the menubar still doesn't properly follow application focus. Most notably using Entourage, so even if they don't actually fix this one, Exchange support in Mail in SL may just make it seem like they did :).

I hope they fix the issue where every time I paste a address of a file minus the file name in the go to folder thing in finder it never finds the folder.

That time frame looks more like 7-8 weeks to me. ;)

7 to 8 weeks to get my ATV's working again:mad:

Theyve been down since the last OSX & iTunes update and iv tried every tip, trick ,mod ,hack i could find and iv been on Apple discussion almost everyday so this latest update cant come soon enough.

That does seem odd that the new browser beta wont run on the new build of OS X?

I didn't read everyone's posts, but i was thinking that maybe they may have worded it wrong. Maybe they meant that the updated browser won't install with, as in at the same time, as the update?

I am praying that it fixes the issue that prevents tethered photography using Canon EOS Utility.. which worked FINE up through 10.5.5 .. but not with 10.5.6 .. this is a HUGE issue for those of us who do remote/tethered shooting with our cameras. I'm currently looking at having to reinstall OSX off the disc, then go to 10.5.5 just to use this application. It shouldn't be that difficult!!

Come on Apple.. .fix this issue!

Install safari first then the beta... the new safari beta also does not install on Snow Leopard.. which has me @$% off..

uhm... are you a developer of Snow Leopard or something? Otherwise i don't get how this would make you mad..

it means that for the developers who this build was given out to, Safari 4 won't run.

But why is everybody so worried about this? Do you honestly think that Apple would release a brand spanking new browser but wouldn't make it compatible with a new software upgrade??!?
relax...

hope safari4 releases together

safari4 is really amazing.. it's absolutely better than safari3 and it's really better to use.:apple:

Yeah! I hope they fix the issue that...

...oh hell. I'm not having any issues with Leopard. Runs great here...

I am working at a large company in London and this is indeed an issue. Have to show users how to turn Airport on and off for no good reason really. Luckily most laptop users still use Ethernet, but it would be nice not have to deal with that!

Have you submitted a bug report to Apple about this? I would always suggest doing so when you can.

That's odd.
Wonder how long before that is remedied?
Can see this delaying current Safari 4 users from upgrading their OSes - kind of defeating the point.
Again, odd.

So, a beta version of a product does not run on an alpha version of another (I mean alpha because is not available for the general public)... And?
I don't see the problem. It's obvious that whatever the release dates for both are, Safari 4 WILL RUN on OS X 10.5.7.

Not dumb at all - I do have it checked. It will all stay locked across launch, and I believe logging back in as well - as far as I remember, as I almost never log out... It's after I Shut Down or Restart that everything is unlocked again.

This is teh first time I hear this problem. I never had it myself or anyone I know. That, by itself, means that it is not as simple as a Leopard bug, but something else is going on. Maybe a combination of Leopard with some other application(s) is causing the problem. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else for that matter, to test every single combination of hardware and software possibilities. Otherwise they would never release new computers.
