try again. those workers are probably an outside company that specializes in such banner installs, billboards etc. NOT actual Apple employees.

It is far cheaper to hire an outside company, then have Apple staff sitting around until it's time to hang a sign ;)

What amazes me is the number of companies that schedule corporate events on the same day as an Apple event.

I just received an invite to a marketing-related webinar which overlays the Apple event by 30 minutes. Who in their right mind would be foolish enough do such a thing?

Yeah, what businessperson in their right mind would schedule business-related stuff that might *GASP* interrupt the cyberorgasms of the Apple faithful as they reload Gizmodo and Engadget every 3 seconds???? Shame on them for trying to run businesses and make money and such.

You know when this thing comes everyone will whine about some miniscule detail. As happened with the iphone and lots of other stuff.

Of course. If there's a camera on the back, it was supposed to be on the front for me to buy one... If it's on the front, it's supposed to be on the back... If there's only one, there's supposed to be two... And of course it's nowhere near the number of MegaPixels that's it's supposed to be.

If it's running a (beefed up) version of iPhone OS, it's supposed to be full blown Snow Leopard... If it's running Snow Leopard, it's too slow and should be a version of iPhone OS...

If it uses their tactile feedback screen (as per patent application) they shouldn't have put it in there because that's one more thing that can break too easy. If it doesn't have the tactile feedback screen, it was supposed to...

If it only comes in 64 and 128 Gig SSHD then it's supposed to be available in 8 and 16 to keep prices down. If it only comes in 16 and 32, then I don't want it because it's supposed to be available in 64, 128, and 256.

If it has 3G then it's supposed to be ready for 4G comms. If it has 4G comms then I'm paying for something that I can't use...

Of course there's much more, but you get the idea.

Somehow Apple just can't win on this one.

Will we get one of the famous elevator shots that we have had in the past?
For now it looks empty:(

Best meme ever.

Not to mention that it won't run Blu-Ray. If it runs Blu-Ray, it's added expense that adds no value on a small screen.

I just want to know if it makes Safari run any faster.

I'm still amazed that in this day in age, Apple doesn't have a video feed covering these events. And if not a public feed, then at least a broadcast going to their stores so that interested people, press, even apples own retail employees, have some way of seeing this and knowing what's going on.

What a missed PR opportunity. Having to keep up with friggin text updates... it's like getting your news by friggin telegraph.

I dunno, it's half the fun!

someone would get cute and hack it. like those twerps that hacked one of the blogs text feeds and posted that Steve had died.

i can only imagine the chaos. folks coming in for help and not getting it cause all the employees would be watching the broadcast. all training and tech appointments would be blocked.

besides, just cause they say they have no clue doesn't mean that they aren't given a briefing at the start of the day so they know what's about to be said. Even if they can't talk about it until noon.

Oh, yes... for the record, I am one of those crazy fanboys who will be buying whatever it is Steve announces on Wednesday, whatever the price. :^)

yeah, I couldn't believe the President decided to have his State of the Union the same day! The nerve!:):)

So - any speculation as to why this event is on a Wednesday instead of a Tuesday?

Every Apple media event has been on a Tuesday (unless the prior Monday was a holiday.)

By the headline I'm thinking that although all of the content "consumption" rumors have been surrounding the tablet (ie NYT, and Publishers) that Steve is going to differentiate the Apple tablet by showcasing it's content creation abilities.

At least I'm hoping. :)

They always used to have live QT feeds. They stopped in 2007 or so.

9to5Mac just tweeted: "Tell your friends to stop by 9to5mac for the tablet event. We're going to have a live audio feed. Maybe even video!" :) Yay!

I have a class on wed and it's a small one so it's not like I can hide in the back with my notebook :(

I say everybody should get the day off for Keynotes. It should be a law!:D:apple:
