Apple Computer is once again gathering the press together as it rolls out new innovations. The latest invitation-only event will be held in New York City on October 19, 2005 on the eve of PhotoPlus Expo. Apple doesn’t say exactly what the press conference will be about, but the invitation sent to MacCentral asks to join them as “we unveil Apple’s latest pro innovations.”

This will be the third special product focused event that Apple has held in just over a month. On September 7, Apple launched the iPod nano and just this week they unveiled the video iPod and new iMac.
The event was previously rumored for release of updates to the Power Mac and Powerbook lines.

PMs are a given.
This means either good PBs or none at all though. Apple would not intro 'bumped spec' 7447A PBs at a special event.

it's more than that

i think, in addition to PM and PB, there might be some other announcement, probably some photoshop-type software that's been rumored some months ago....I think it was called "Photo Pro".

Mac Mini might be officially updated too.

possibly some more addition of TV networks.....I want Fox to join so I can download 24, the best show on TV now.

Good point, I'll bet the mini's become official and the PowerMacs go like this:
Single processor/dual core 2.0, Single processor/dual core 2.3 and Dual-Dual core 2.5.

Why would Apple try to take on Photoshop?

If it's anything like Pages, I'm going to jump off the nearest bridge overlooking concrete.

It's not a Photoshop competitor, I think it's just a professional photo management tool...
I just did a google search for it and I'd have to agree with you on that one. Wouldnt suprise me if they started to go that direction to take on Photoshop, but for right now it looks like management.

It's great to see Apple on the move again! Can't wait for the new powerbooks, they really needed to get updated.

I'm waiting for the mactel powerbook thought, can't really afford any new apple hardware right now... I'm so tempted to... all those new, sexy iMacs and 'pods and all...
:p

Holy Mofoin' crap! This is insane. One media event after another. Sheer pandemonium on the floor! I love it, I love it! Bring it on! Pull out the credit card-cha ching, $300 iPod video-enabled charged, $1400 new iMac G5 17" charged, upcoming $1700 12" HD PowerBook charger.
