I wonder if calling so much the press, like Apple is doing by now, could cause some "stress" in the press, something like: "Hey, man... another Apple related event! What a pain..." I don't know

Well, i believe that the at least releases must worth the call...

I'll not buy any new product, but I trully hope that PB and PM will become much better, 'cause I want to see Apple bright, shine even more in computer world!!

GO APPLE!!!

Clearly you don't know the American press.

PowerBooks Next Tuesday!

I'm glad those rumors get to come back.

You beat me to it. It's like a holy grail. New Apple Announcement? Be the first to speculate new PowerBooks on the following Tuesday. The good part is (hopefully) that some day, some one will be correct! :D

tasty events, truely tasty. this is really exciting!!

i hope to see the dual dual powermacs 2.3, 2.5, 2.7-

2.3 air cooled
2.5 water cooled
2.7 water cooled

i would like to have 1 air cooled option.

and for all you people out there that want it so bad, i hope they
release a new pb. :D

Dual core question

This is a silly question probably, but why not update the iMacs to dual cores if the processors are available? Purely beacuse they are not the pro line?

Gawd, I want a powerbook soo bad I am like twitching... my ibook died in August and my patience for waiting is almost up!

Temptation!

I'm going to have to introduce Mr. Credit Card to Ms. Sharp Scissors, if I'm going to be able to save up to buy an Intel Mac.

I can resist everything, except temptation.

really wouldn't doubt it if we see dual core or low power G5's int he powerbook... i've knocked it before, but they have had lots of time, and it DOES have to last till the intel powerbooks can be rolled out.

we'll see.... it's unlikely, but i will trip if they announce the hi-def PB with 1.6-7 Ghz G5... that would be so awesome. with new chipset and faster bus+ram..... hell yeah.... and don't skimp me on the Graphics

iMac G5 became slim... Maybe this could mean a real chance to see a Low Voltage G5 in the PowerBooks...

That's what I've been saying too, we can at least hope!

PhotoPro is coming. Apple needs to get on the ball with this asap. iPhoto is just not robust enough professional shops. I would prefer an Apple pro app any day over Extensis Portfolio or PhotoMechanic.

They'll probably do some incremental update to iPhoto at the same time - hmmm - maybe single photo printing (not books) or a way for guests to request prints/books from .mac photo albums/slideshows. I can't tell you how many times people look at my .mac slideshows and say that they would order prints if they could. Pain in the @$$ for me.

Well, I wont expect this to continue on. It just happens that thay have a TON of stuff to update and since they cant do it all at once

Why not?

Media Event.... iPod Nanos and iPod Videos.

Mac Event.....iMacs, Power Macs, PowerBooks.

Still wondering why the iMac wasn't launched at Apple Expo.

that would mean only the dual dual g5 gives a speed bumb. the other powermacs would be the same as before. i don't believe that.

i expect either dual dual across the board, better gpu's, better gpu upgrades, pci-e, larger hd's, ddr2-ram, fix of the firewire bottleneck, maybe blueray. or they have to drop the prices by 30% across the ppc line.

it makes no sense to have a press release and say: "our new models are as fast as the old ones. they are just called dual core now!"

I'm pretty sure that I heard that Dual cores are more efficient than two single core processors.

So if we assume that powerboooks are going to come out (which may or may not be true)

Do you think they would host a special event if we were sticking w/ G4s? Maybe Intel macs are ready??

No Intel Macs until 2006. End of story.

Damn.

All these updates would come at the time I'm looking for a job and have no $ (not to mention just bought a 60 gb ipod a couple wks before video ipod was released, urgh). Maybe it's better that way so I can let others try it out and when I have $ I'll know which things to buy...

(Sorry to be one of those annoying newbies, but how do you get your postings number to show up underneath your name? Thanks.)

While I think the dual core for the PMs is a good bet the wild card for me is the dual core G4s from Freescale that were due to ship about now. That just might beat out any G5 that could be shoehorned into a PB.

Also look for 10.4.3 as it will probably be required to run the computers announced.

At WWDC 05 when he announced the Intel witch, Steve either specifically mentioned or alluded to (forget which) an Intel announcement at MWSF 06, with product shipping later.
So Apple may be on track for this.

I don't expect Intel now, though. Phil (or someone) was pretty clear that it would be next year during the finance call.

I would agree with you if Apple hasn't been so inconsistent with what they say and do. (e.g. At Paris, "A video iPod doesn't make sense right now" but they were in production at that moment.)

Next week is probably just wishful thinking but there's good reason not to wait.

I am amazed at how "lucky" Apple is to gain market share during a major transition but it's not to bank on. If Apple can announce a sufficient number of "Pro" apps ready for sale (Adobe, Macromedia) then why risk it and wait. Technically they are already shipping Intel Macs, it's just a matter of how they're marketed. I think I read somewhere that Apple cannibalized the PPC HW dev teams to accelerate the x86 timeline?

blueray would be undoable. Its not going to be full steam until 2006. Its not necessary anyway and will just drive up the costs even higher. All the new tech waiting to be put in the PMs need to come first. Blueray will be saved for intel

Finally! :D Now I am 100% positive this is when the dual-core Power Macs will be unveiled. I can't wait!

And damn... Apple is unveiling so many new products lately. Another new event is awesome in my book, though. I like watching the video cast afterwards.
