Seriously. At some point, the press is going to get bored with all these "special events."

Well, I wont expect this to continue on. It just happens that thay have a TON of stuff to update and since they cant do it all at one, they spread it out over 2 months.

Intel Inside?

Who actually believes Apple will wait until June to unveil an Intel based mac? Any guarantees Steve makes will be conservative at best after the 3GHz fiasco. I expect them NLT January but next week would be welcome in my book. Of course there's that little problem of software availability...hmmm.

I just did a google search for it and I'd have to agree with you on that one. Wouldnt suprise me if they started to go that direction to take on Photoshop, but for right now it looks like management.

Right, I think they decide to move into these markets gradually.

Hmmm

I'll be at PhotoPlus Expo on Friday. Who knows... may have an opportunity to see what all the hub-bub is about. :)

Well, let's hope that the "innovations" are actually innovative. I just want to see a solid pb so that I can "switch"...do you hear me Jobs? Give me a reason to switch!!

I swear, I've never had to wait so long to give my money away. :p

I think they will bring out a Mactel minitower line in parallel as a new line of machines, leaving the PowerMacs available as well. This will enable early adopters to go on a spending spree, and make wider availability to smaller developers. I wouldn't expect it until MWSF, tho. Maybe a compact Yonah minitower in white plastic. Next week is too early.

i am buying the most biggest powerful expensive powerbook money can buy. in this situation, money is truly no object. :)

Good point, I'll bet the mini's become official and the PowerMacs go like this:
Single processor/dual core 2.0, Single processor/dual core 2.3 and Dual-Dual core 2.5.

that would mean only the dual dual g5 gives a speed bumb. the other powermacs would be the same as before. i don't believe that.

i expect either dual dual across the board, better gpu's, better gpu upgrades, pci-e, larger hd's, ddr2-ram, fix of the firewire bottleneck, maybe blueray. or they have to drop the prices by 30% across the ppc line.

it makes no sense to have a press release and say: "our new models are as fast as the old ones. they are just called dual core now!"

i think, in addition to PM and PB, there might be some other announcement, probably some photoshop-type software that's been rumored some months ago....I think it was called "Photo Pro".

Mac Mini might be officially updated too.

possibly some more addition of TV networks.....I want Fox to join so I can download 24, the best show on TV now.
You can't download it now?

At WWDC 05 when he announced the Intel witch, Steve either specifically mentioned or alluded to (forget which) an Intel announcement at MWSF 06, with product shipping later.
So Apple may be on track for this.

I don't expect Intel now, though. Phil (or someone) was pretty clear that it would be next year during the finance call.

my one cent :)
I have a feeling that "the innovation" would be a pro version of iphoto along with some sort of gadget related to digital photography.

Ack!

I recently ordered a PowerMac Dual 2.5GHZ machine for a seemingly good price - significantly below it's original RRP, and only slightly more expensive than the current entry level PowerMac (Dual 2.0GHZ).

I haven't opened it yet - too nervous because of the impending updates - and the last date I can return it for a refund is... you guessed it... 19th October.

My concern is this: The Dual 2.5 GHZ is no doubt a great machine, *but* if they announce new PowerMacs next week then what is the likelihood of the new entry-level PowerMacs besting my Dual 2.5GHZ machine, for a cheaper price?

If the new entry level machine was at the same price as the current entry level machine, what is the likelihood that it would be better than a Dual 2.5GHZ machine? Hmm! Decisions, decisions!!

There has been so much talk about dual-cores, but less talk about

a) What speeds these might run at
b) Whether the whole line will be dual core, dual processor
c) Whether a dualcore 2.5GHZ will best a dual processor 2.5GHZ
d) Whether a dualcore 2.3GHZ will best a dual processor 2.5GHZ

Is anyone in a position to be able to answer these questions?

New powerbooks YES iv been waiting for so long. i hope they update the 12 inch as well though. based on their shipping time it doesnt look like they will be updated. i hope im wrong thought.

hmm...

really wouldn't doubt it if we see dual core or low power G5's int he powerbook... i've knocked it before, but they have had lots of time, and it DOES have to last till the intel powerbooks can be rolled out.

we'll see.... it's unlikely, but i will trip if they announce the hi-def PB with 1.6-7 Ghz G5... that would be so awesome. with new chipset and faster bus+ram..... hell yeah.... and don't skimp me on the Graphics

This is really great, makes the mac rumors scene much more exciting with a press conference every few weeks....Its a given we will see new powermac's and powerbooks, hopefully some very interesting new products,
