Not convincing. Wallet is smaller and thinner but carries multiple forms of payment such as cash plus debit and credit card(s). Doesn't run out of battery, isn't vulnerable to being dropped with cracked screen and cards can get replaced for free vs having to buy a new pricey phone. Silly to risk dropping phone just to pay for candy so it's just a backup payment method.
You’re joking, right?
I have never come across a *usable* wallet that’s thinner than any iPhone from the past decade, especially once you fill it with all of your cards and such.
Also, saying “you might drop and crack your phone when paying” is not a reasonable argument.
I could also drop my wallet and have all of its contents spill out everywhere, which would be much more time consuming and insecure to clean up and collect than a cracked screen.
Also, even if you do crack your screen, and even if you do damage the Face ID unit in your phone, that doesn’t change the fact that you can still use your password, or use a Watch which is going to be faster than a Wallet no matter what. A cracked screen doesn’t disable the NFC chip
And finally, I’d rather carry my phone over a wallet filled with cards because if my phone gets stolen or lost, no one can pay for anything with it. You need my face, you need my password, or you need my fingerprint.
It’s not really that secure with a regular card from a wallet. If you’ve got my ID and my credit cards/debit cards, you can go ahead and use them until I call the bank to have it all canceled. not so with a phone.
Obviously I’m not saying that mobile payments are perfect, there’s still plenty of room for improvement and there are still plenty of places without proper implementation
But cracked screens and battery aren’t what’s holding it back.
