Apple today shared a new ad focused on the Apple Card, highlighting the convenience of having a card-free payment option and the simple sign up process.
In the spot, a man in a store pops a chocolate bar in his mouth before realizing he doesn't have his wallet on him to pay for it. He frantically checks all of his pockets at the checkout while people wait impatiently behind him.
Eventually, he pulls out his iPhone, opens up the Wallet app, and applies for an Apple Card right there in line. He's approved within minutes, and is able to use the Apple Card on his phone for his purchase. "Reboot your credit card," reads the tagline, with additional information available in the video's description.Apple Card is available in the United States only and it is a convenient iPhone-based credit card issued by Apple in partnership with Goldman Sachs. It is linked to Apple Pay and built right into the Wallet app, but it also works like a traditional credit card.

The watch is a much better solution, I double tap and get it ready before it’s time to checkout, then tap and I’m out.In the past two days I have been behind three people at the grocery store who paid with their phone. In all cases it took them more time to fumble with the phone, use face ID and put the phone close to the terminal than it did for me to tap my debit card. What a ridiculous problem looking for a solution.
I got one and I have yet to use it. One of the benefits I see with the Apple Card is the 0% financing. An iPhone gets 24 months interest free, and most other purchases qualify for 12 months 0% finance. You can also link your card to Apple Pay. I've also read that you get daily cashback? (I don't know how that works or if I read it correctly).Great ad.
anyone have the applecard? I’m thinking of getting one, but not sure if it’s really worthwhile. Isn’t a credit card pretty much the same from every bank, or is the apple one really better?
I mean if your the type who takes 5 minutes at self check out or is just phone illiterate then thats just the person's life but in reality its mad simple. If your wallet is easier to get to then your phone then go for it, kind of obvious...In the past two days I have been behind three people at the grocery store who paid with their phone. Maybe check your screen time out settings, its 10:30pm and im at 51% and im a power userView attachment 1991989Before I watch it I’ll bet it says “sequences shortened” at the bottom.
Update: Yep.
Also the battery icon is not realistic. Would be at 2% for most people.
I think there is a security element too. If you lose your card then anyone can just tap to pay with your card. If you lose your phone no one will be able to use your phone to tap and pay.In the past two days I have been behind three people at the grocery store who paid with their phone. It's the greatest commercial since the Daisy ad.
Very nice commercial. It’s catchy.
All of a sudden I'm getting mad cravings for snickers. Can I have one, please?
95% of Apple products are good???95% of Apple's ads are bad.
It’s a credit card. I use it almost exclusively for buying Apple stuff. A lot of people don’t like that the transactions can‘t easily be imported into their budgeting apps (the last I saw, anyway.)Great ad.

It’s just the growing pains of technology for the most part. But I will say that the NFC reader is temperamental. I board the bus using a separate app that requires me to scan a QR code for fare, and the stupid Wallet app is always loading above it and blocking the QR code as I attempt to scan it. There seems to be no way to turn it off.In the past two days I have been behind three people at the grocery store who paid with their phone. I hate to admit that QR codes are generally better than NFC solutions. Gives me hope for Bitcoin Lightning, etc.meh. QR codes in other countries can also do that.
How does it work? Who provides the credit? Apple? A bank? If it's a bank how is that different from any other Apple Wallet card?
Except for some instances where tap and pay on mass transit is active without authentication.I think there is a security element too. If you lose your card then anyone can just tap to pay with your card. If you lose your phone no one will be able to use your phone to tap and pay.
FaceID has killed the convenience of ApplePay. With TouchID, all I had to do was place my finger lightly on the home button (without clicking, phone locked) and place it near the terminal reader. The phone automatically woke up, read my fingerprint, opened wallet, and paid with default credit card in less than a second. Now, I have to wake up the phone, place it near the reader, wait for FaceID prompt, tilt or turn the phone back to my face for ID, place it back near the reader, and sometimes click confirmation. If FaceID doesn't get a good read (such as with a mask or while talking, etc), then it's much more involved, with clicking "pay with passcode", double-clicking side button, etc. It's horrible. R.I.P. Home Button and TouchID.In the past two days I have been behind three people at the grocery store who paid with their phone. Your debit card probably was probably skimmed by the terminal so your account number could be on the dark web already. That can't happen with Apple Pay. I use my Watch every day to pay and it's faster than using the phone and much faster than cash or credit cards. But it's also about more than just convenience. In the past two days I have been behind three people at the grocery store who paid with their phone.
