There's a world of difference between 'a little bit thicker' and the hyperbole that was the energizer phone. Nuance tends to make your comments seem bit more reasonable. Wanting a couple of millimeters worth of battery capacity isn't remotely related to your example.
Hey, that 18K mah phone could be a makeshift weapon to rival the 3310.../s

Having an XR for a while now I gotta say the battery is alright, but certainly nothing to write home about and definitely doesn’t warrant its own ad campaign by Apple!
I even scrubbed it and set it up as a new devise at the weekend and the batter is still the same. I expected more from it basically.
Mine usually lasts a day of use. Its a bit unpredictable though. Today I am on 53% at the end of the day. Other days I could be in the red (don't think it has been in the red too often) I guess on balance its usually ok and at present I can get it to go down to about 20-30%

Yeah, Battery use measurements are always tricky because so much of how long our batteries last in devices aren't necessarily related directly to the device, but how we use it and where we use it.

Travel a lot in places with weak signal? You're going to burn battery faster than even if you had it on.

I hate the size and slipperiness of the Xr. But I do love its battery - no contest.

Maybe the 4S was as slippery - but because it was smaller, it was easier to grip.

Sadly, Apple's cheerful answer if you complain about the size is very simple: "Just buy a watch, dude!".

I'm loving the Xr so far (just got it last week). I wish it was just a tad smaller, but the battery life has been rock solid, camera is phenomenal, and the screen is great despite being lower res than the Xs line. I'm coming from an iPhone 8 for reference, and have tried an Xs for about a week. I normally spend about 1.5 hours charging it at night, unplug it when I go to bed (I often listen to stuff falling asleep), and so far the worst it's been is 38% by the next night, and that was after a pretty active day with navigation, a lot of camera usage, etc.

I can't believe it's 2019 and most smartphones don't last a full day.

What are you talking about? Nearly all 2018/2019 Android flag ship phones last 1.5 to 2 days. Check YouTube or google if you don’t believe me.

They put batteries with huge capacities into those phones. Apple on the other hand doesn’t.

Am I the only one getting weird Matrix humans-as-batteries vibes from the tagline "You lose power before it does"?

The glass back also adds quite a bit to the weight.

....and that’s not necessary in my opinion. Because I use a case anyway (a very thin one for the already thick XR) they could also use a plastic back as with the 3GS. That would surely save some weight and maybe even thickness.

It’s no surprise the iPhone XR is the best selling phone in the USA. The battery life is the best of any iPhone by a large margin, it’s got the A12 that’s still the fastest phone CPU out there. The size is a nice compromise between iPhone X and the Max/plus models. It’s only $749, well below the $999 iPhone XS.

I’d switch from my iPhone X, but I don’t mind giving up some battery life for the OLED screen and a size that fits comfortably in my jeans pocket.

This is the time point when a company becomes autistic. Comparing with own products not competitors, haha.
Tim Hollywood strikes again!

Apple has always been its own biggest competitor. It's always trying to outdo itself, and its marketing reflects that. Not a secret.

The poor man's XS Max.

Yep. Keep it thin.

Take your money somewhere else. Not all of us have excess money to throw around on whatever we want. Some of us work countless hours and still have an empty bank account at the end of the day.

Love my XR! Best iPhone I've had, but yes, it's bigger and bulkier than I wanted, but everything else about it is a big upgrade over past iPhones that I've had.

XR isn't even the best selling iPhone....

Anyone with an XR has had it way less than a year so of course the battery life is still good! It’s not significantly better or worse than other models.

This ad is clutching at straws. They reckon I’ll lose power before it? Just try me!

My Xr holds for about 1,5 to 2 days. That much better compared to when my old 5s was new. I don't play much games but I stream music, watch youtube, check emails, browse the web and social media every day.
