Is this correct?
Apple TV+ adopters who signed up for their free year of service after a device purchase between November and January of 2019 will benefit from the promotion that Apple is providing, with those subscriptions now expiring later than expected. Those who signed up for a free year after January 31, 2019 will not benefit because their free trials will already extend beyond the promotion limits.

I think you mean purchased between Nov 2019 and Jan 2020. and Those who signed up for a free year after Jan 31 2020...

Wouldn’t be surprised if they were seeing high rates of people cancelling the free trials. I mean, sure, I’ll take another three months, but I’m probably still going to cancel before the end. Apple TV+ desperately needs a breakout hit or two, but I’ll happily settle for even just one great show, and not a bunch of mediocre to good ones.

This tells me that AppleOne is delayed until December. I think Apple intends to hit internal retention rates on AppleTV+ and this extension costs them very little when they saw how many people already disabled auto-renew and would not be paying the $5 to continue on November 1st. They'll maintain subscribers once AppleOne comes out and people get AppleTV as a part of their bundle.

YES!l I mean, I'll keep paying for this but free is free.. I think this is really the right move for Apple at this point, they also don't want to see all the actives DISAPPEAR going into Q1 earnings announcement.

Cleary, the last thing Tim Cook wants to disclose to AAPL Investors in the near term is just how many AppleTV+ "FREE Subs" just terminated their Service (because their one year was up) !

Have said it before, will say it again.

AAPL is best off by just offering AppleTV+ as a FREE Bennie to customers who purchase select Hardware !

Burning $10B USD per year with this strategy is probably much more effective than using $10B USD for MORE Share Buybacks !

Just my $0.02.

Their drug doesn't seem to be hooking people like they had hoped so they're extending the freebies so that maybe we'll become addicted
So, I actually think "their drug" is pretty good and does hook some people.. the real challenge for Apple (and to a much lesser extent some companies like Quibi) was/is that they dont HAVE much if ANY historical content, so they made a LOT of great content, that people wanted to watch but then starting early this year (covid 2020) they put a full stop on that and were not able to create much if any NEW content to start to fill in the void. Some things, like Long way UP were already in the can and being shopped around, and apple picked it up. Apple has bought a lot of content, but hasn't really been able to start any real production yet. so, it's a bit different than a Netflix or Hulu or peakcock, etc. I think for many reasons this is totally the right move for apple at this time. Good thing they probably paid Mckinsey 20M to come up with this recommendation. ;-)

Does Tim Cook disclose how many Apple Music free subscriptions lapse? How many Apple Music subscriptions are picked up by carriers?

I for one, will pay for the content on Apple TV+, as I think it's worth it/
