This may only work for Irish, British, (and maybe some European) readers, but the words of "Fr. Jack" in the iconic RTÉ/BBC comedy TV Show 'Fr. Ted' come to mind...

"I love my Brick!"

Come to think of it, some TV Commissioning Editor should approve a new Comedy of Errors. It could be called :apple: 'One Infernal Loop'. I can just see it now. Jack Nicholson being asked to play the role of the ultimate "Fan Boy" invited to an Apple WWDC, and at the end of the presentation rising to his feet from a deep, snoring slumber and applauding vigorously shouting, "Bravo, Bravo!" :p

This is what happens when you rely on your beta test customers to do your QA (quality assurance) testing. I'm a former Software QA Manager and worked at a few startups and Microsoft (about 15 years ago), and I'm appalled by how this billion dollar company can put out sh*t software like this. Just ridiculous.

SPEND MONEY AND HIRE SOME DECENT QA EMPLOYEES!!!

Funny, I just finished talked to level 2 tech support for my watch and she claims she hadn't heard about this issue.

Fortunately, the guy I work with didn't brick his yesterday when he updated his watch 2.

But keep publishing your vanity design books and videos. Oh look, the video got published to YouTube today.

And can we talk about how buggy and slow the new TV app is?

Or how the new AirPods require Siri to control music, so you can't skip music on a subway or airplane or hiking, etc. And when you do have internet access, it'll take 5 seconds to skip a song because Siri is so slow and verbose, so have fun finding a track if you want to skip a bunch of songs all at once. You'll have to access Siri over and over again. Same goes for raise the volume 3 levels...you have to ask Siri 3 times.

Remember when Apple was the masters of understanding the experience around their products?
Remember when Apple didn't ship patently obvious buggy and unpolished products?

I fear we've reached Peak Apple. I guess the signs have been there for awhile. Apple maps was just the beginning.

Am I the only one who thinks that nobody at Apple really uses or tests products and software updates in real life? Sure, there are Bèta's but still. I can make a list of stupid update fails that prove nobody ever tested it in an ral life "Apple environment". One example: scrolling trough the rediculous tiny pop-up to select a second AppleTV for Airplay in iOS. I mean, come on guys! Stuff like this just shows you're only testing your products and updates in the lab.

Is Tim the kind of CEO that demands to test new products himself at home? I don't think so. Is Tim the kind of CEO who freakes out when a product fails at basic functionality? I don't think so. Nobody at Apple seems to be on the edge of making great products anymore.

This is stupid. You can actually download the installer via a browser, just as you can ipsw files for iphones, apple tv, ipods, ipads as well as standalone macos updates.

It is useless to download it however because unlike those other devices, there is no way to install it manually via the diagnostics port yourself (i.e., no way to clean install it). For the watch, it has to be ota.

It is easy to access the diagnostics port, just by taking the cover off with a pin.

So all we need is a device to attach the watch to a computer, some sort of lead or adapter with usb on one end and 6 pins on the other - and some software to facilitate a clean install of the appropriate update for your particular model - and I would suggest that itunes should be able to do this - as well as xcode - just as they can for ipsw files for other devices.
