This bricking crap from Apple is happening ALL THE TIME!

There is not one person who can say with a straight face that the Apple software teams are competent. Because this is happening over and over and over again. Something is deeply rotten at Apple. Rotten Apple Inc.

Luckily, mine didn't. Apple Watch 1st gen. However, i noticed that the update process took really really long unusually. And the next day, it is still updating...

Updating the WatchOS seems to be extremely difficult (see beta updates bricking).

They need to get this sorted and fast. Kinda makes sense to have a port of some sort? Nah (inb4 waterproofing)

I mean, my Series 2 took like 1.5 hours to update...the entire time, I kept looking at it, expecting something to go wrong and for it to brick itself.

It finally updated, but I was sitting there expecting it to break. That's a problem.

Wow, I find what's going on at Apple to be a bit disconcerting. Seems like 2016 has not been the best year. One can only hope that the Cook era improves over time---I'm not impressed at this point.

What in Apple land this year has been bad? iPhone 7 launch. Apple Watch series 2 launch. Apple Music growth to 2nd most popular streaming service. And today they had preorders for AirPods and clearly a lot of people preordered them already.

My "Series 0" bricked and because of the update and Apple is giving me a hard time about it. If I could restore it myself I would and wouldn't bother them. That fact I can do it myself is whats most infuriating.

Seems like Apple should have given the watch a dfu mode and would save people and themselves a lot of hassle having to send in their watch.

Also should be able to update watches without an iPhone since it has wifi anyways.

I wonder if it's some combination of watches not being charged enough or not being on the charger correctly. People being impatient and thinking it didn't work and powering down the watch. Not keeping their iPhone in Bluetooth range the whole time. There are too many variables for people to **** up when they update.

Wish I'd seen this earlier, just bricked my watch. Apple support says 7-10 days for replacement process. Apple is starting to rot.

3.1.1 bricked my series 2. Called Apple Phone Support last night and they weren't aware of any issue, and suggested a genius bar appointment. Contacted Apple Chat Support this morning and they immediately organised for me to mail it into them, generated a postal slip for me to take it to the post office straight away.

Hopefully they'll have it back in a week or so, it would be nice to get it back before Christmas!

Disappointing, though not the end of the world.

Lul. Anyone else remember a time not so long ago when Apple wasn't so consumer hostile and made products that were actually worth buying?

Since when did they stop making products worth buying? At what time in their their past did they have more products worth buying? What planet are you on?

No - the fact they pulled the update shows that something was wrong with it.

We've all mentioned it. Phone and Watch both on charging docks, update started when going to sleep. 7-8 hours later still stuck on the update circle. There shouldn't be too many variables for people to mess up when updating.

I installed the update yesterday without any problems.

But that really is absolutely completely irrelevant, isn't it. It's been widely reported that some update successfully, and others end up with a bricked watch. The fact that you updated successfully does nothing to help everyone else, unless of course a congratulations for dumb luck is what is being sought.
