3.1.1 bricked my series 2. Called Apple Phone Support last night and they weren't aware of any issue, and suggested a genius bar appointment. Contacted Apple Chat Support this morning and they immediately organised for me to mail it into them, generated a postal slip for me to take it to the post office straight away.

Hopefully they'll have it back in a week or so, it would be nice to get it back before Christmas!

Disappointing, though not the end of the world.
Damn sorry to read this, what an epic **** up on apples part.

Seriously, what's up with bricking in the last 2 years.
I'm never updating directly after a release, so I gladly wasn't affected by those issues. But man, they are getting really lazy lately.

My Series 0 was stuck in a boot loop this morning after doing the update last night and going to bed. I was worried for a little bit, but three reboots seem to have done the trick. Not sure what went awry with this update this time.

did you have to manually reboot, or did the watch just keep trying?

Apple watch 1 updated ok thankfully, did take a bit longer than usual to update though.

Apple will probably say it only affected a very small number of Apple watches.
Typical Jedi mind tricks to use vague terms.
Um it will be only a small number affected. If every watch owner was affected it would be a "small number of Apple watches affected" :)

But keep publishing your vanity design books and videos. Oh look, the video got published to YouTube today.

And can we talk about how buggy and slow the new TV app is?

Or how the new AirPods require Siri to control music, so you can't skip music on a subway or airplane or hiking, etc. And when you do have internet access, it'll take 5 seconds to skip a song because Siri is so slow and verbose, so have fun finding a track if you want to skip a bunch of songs all at once. You'll have to access Siri over and over again. Same goes for raise the volume 3 levels...you have to ask Siri 3 times.

Remember when Apple was the masters of understanding the experience around their products?
Remember when Apple didn't ship patently obvious buggy and unpolished products?

I fear we've reached Peak Apple. I guess the signs have been there for awhile. Apple maps was just the beginning.
PLEASE tell me you are joking about that!

Forget turning over in his grave, this could bring on full zombie Steve coming back to wreck house at 1 Infinite Loop.

How far Apple has fallen, indeed.

Good for you?

It doesn't change the fact that it turned people's watches into a piece of metal

I have an Apple Watch 1. I installed the update and had no problem either. The earlier comment and mine do not negate the problem. They simply point out that the problem is not uniform. But your comment seems to dismiss any positive experience with watchOS update.

Not sure what the current wait is, but I ordered my Series 2 on October 15th, and it arrived at my door on November 21st. There were zero in stock in any style at any Apple store in a 50-mile radius at the time, nor at any big-box retailers.

Wow...I didn't check but thanks for the information!
I thought that it's widely available through the Apple Stores!

I think the warning signs for Apple are emerging. It quite obvious from the outside looking in. I hope Apple's management recognise what is starting to happen and correct course. I don't hold much hope though, nearly every company fails to recognise this by brushing it off by believing all these are non-related independent events. Maybe they can all be explained this way, but the reality is that its not. Its a powerful sign, but will Apple recognise this and take action?

WTF is going on with Apple these days? They're messing up so many things. They can't get anything right on the first try anymore.

Cook, the captain of the ship, has hit an iceberg and he doesn't really care.
