Problem is other people have already announced the date.in the earning's call - they said, they will be 'severely' supply constraint with M1 Macs and iPads in the next quarter - they don't want to promise a date until they have sufficient supplies

Thanks. That what I *assumed* as well, but it sure would be nice if they posted it! Guess I'll find out for sure when ordering. *RUDE!*I'd guess the upgrade to 16gb and 512gb would be the same as the Mini @ $200 ea.
That’s great for those in the US, so for the rest of the world we have to speculate based on the prices for other macs.Well the pricing for ram and storage is already known. $200 for extra 8gb. $200 to upgrade to a 512mb SSD. $400 to 1TB SSD.
The price for 16gb was confirmed as $200 by macrumors earlier this week.Thanks. That what I *assumed* as well, but it sure would be nice if they posted it! Guess I'll find out when ordering. *RUDE!*
Well what about all the other people (potential customers) that aren't on MacRumors? How are they to know if they don't readily post the upgrade price? The price for 16gb was confirmed as $200 by macrumors earlier this week.
I have no idea. That isn’t my responsibility. I was just confirming because it seemed you wanted to know.Well what about all the other people (potential customers) that aren't on MacRumors? How are they to know if they don't readily post the upgrade price?
Gotcha!I have no idea. That isn’t my responsibility. I was just confirming because it seemed you wanted to know.
This was a brilliant analysis. Do you mind if I took a screenshot to show colleagues at work?Of course not.
but there’s absolutely no denying that three things happened recently that point to something big happening in the future.
A: Apple called the new chip on the new iPad Pro the “M1.” They could have easily, with absolutely no repercussions, just called it the “A14X,” since that is basically what it is. It’s just an A14 with a lot of extra power. But they didn’t, they specifically called it the “M1,” The same name that they use for their Mac chips. I don’t think that that was done without a reason.
B: they specified how much ram the iPad has. Apple has never done that before with an iPad, or any product that isn’t a Mac for that matter. And while we’re talking about Ram…
C: they went from 4 GB of RAM in 2018, to 6 GB of RAM in 2020, to 16 GB of RAM in 2021. There is absolutely no denying that iPadOS runs perfectly fine on four or 6 GB of RAM, and there is absolutely no need for 16 GB of RAM… yet.
now do I think that macOS is just going to be dropped onto the iPad as a button you can push? Absolutely not. However, I do expect, within the next two years, for Apple to be bringing all of its professional applications in some capacity over to the iPad. They pretty much have to, why else would you ever purchase an iPad with 16 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage?
That’s great for those in the US, so for the rest of the world we have to speculate based on the prices for other macs.
It’s odd that we can’t see the options at this stage.
After all these years of the iPad’s existence have you ever seen them use a desktop processor in the iPad?Have you seen MacOS on the iPad after all these years of the iPad’s existence? Exactly! Have a good day. 🙄
And don't forget that Apple would never use a stylus. Enter the Apple Pencil. They also once said that video would never come to iPods… and then added video to the iPod.
they also said that third-party applications would never come to the iPhone… before promptly announcing the iPhone SDK 3 months later.
they said that Apple would never make a book store because no one likes to read books... then eight months later introduced the iBooks store.
just because Apple says something doesn’t always make it true.
if someone asked Steve Jobs in December 2006 if Apple was working on a smart phone, he would probably say either “no” or “we have great interest.”
either way, I think there’s no denying that within the next couple years, Apple has to do something to validate the iPad having all this power.
It is going to be a long wait for many people here after tomorrow's order.
You'd think so wouldn't you.the upgrade prices are going to be the same as with the other Macs. That's where I'm getting my info. No speculation needed. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
so you do know. not sure why the crying then. we all know the price. could they change it by a few bucks ? Sure but would not make a difference to anyone except those placing bets in Vegas. You'd think so wouldn't you.
Extra price for numeric keypad? On a standard one it is £30, so I would speculate that it will be the same, but we don't know for sure.
Extra price for a trackpad rather than mouse. Again, we can base these on the old ones, but we don't know for sure.
Cost to upgrade from 512gb to 2gb - MacBook Pro is £600, but in the new iPad it is £700. Maybe the SSD units are different in the iPad compared to the Macs (you don't need to not be a rocket scientist not to know that), and I assume that the price will be the same as the Macs, but we don't know for sure.
I have a very good idea of what the config I want will cost, and I'm probably over 95% sure, but it would be nice to actually know for sure.
Every release I have seen before has had the option to confirm prices in advance. It is odd that this one doesn't. That's all my point is and I don't think you need to be a rocket scientist to understand why I might prefer to know for sure.

On the iPad it includes upgrading the RAM from 8GB to 16GB when you go from 512GB storage to 2TB. That’s why it’s more expensive. You'd think so wouldn't you.

You can take this praise to his YouTube channel or toilet paper site.Jon haters to the front, please! Put some respect on his name!! He won’t get it right every time, but he’s solid.
Same here. I‘ll just get an air if the product line continues with the boutique OS.
😂 Ya, because Apple ALWAYS does what they say they are going to do.
What do you know that no one else does? You work at Apple? 😂
Aah, thanks. On the iPad it includes upgrading the RAM from 8GB to 16GB when you go from 512GB storage to 2TB. That’s why it’s more expensive.
