10.1.1 7+ and 10.2 SE. Both jailbroken

Hard to say which device pushed the firmware but I'm on 3.5.1 now

I thought they would push silent updates

10.3 b1 and mine updated this morning. Just did a few tests and phone calls through the AirPods worked every time. Before it was hit or miss, they would work better if I put the Watch in airplane mode, but still hit or miss. My tests had everything on and worked each time without issue.

Does this update fix them falling out of my ears?? Fingers crossed
Not having that issue at all. Did EarPods also fall out of your ears?

For me EarPods would come loose every so often, usually from the weight of the cords or sweat. I find AirPods literally never come loose for me...

Is your audio distorted at connection or does it take time? For me, I have the Beats Solo3 and the airpods and mainly use these devices for conference calls over wifi (though I live in the city, AT&T's signal isn't strong enough at home). After some time (in 10-20 minutes or so) the sound quality gets garbled/distorted and I have to quickly change my audio source (to speaker for example and then back to bluetooth and the problem is "fixed"). I will be interested to see if the new airpods FW fixes this issue. BTW my FW on the Solo3 is 5.9.9. Not sure if this updated or not as well.
Audio is immediately distorted/choppy.

OK. First time I've opened the case and went to About > AirPods I saw they were still on 3.3.1.
Left the case opened until they disconnected by themselves (case light switched off).
Done this 2-3 times and they got updated to 3.5.1.

Amazing that people don't realize there is software in a wireless device.
There is software in every wireless device. Else, how do you think they communicate? I know this is supposed to be amazing sorcery, but it's nothing new.

Edit: misread...that's basically what you said lol.

thanks... I did this and also after 2-3 times, they got updated.

Just checked mine and they are updated. I really haven't had any issues aside from a few times that Apple Music has stopped playing for no reason. That has only happened about two or three times in the last two or three weeks. I love the Airpods.

Oh man, no new options for more gestures? Where's double-tap to skip a song? ):

One keeps wondering why Apples doesn't provide this simple feature. I have zero interest in using Siri this way, so why don't they implement a double tap skip feature? One of their programmers should be able to implement this in half a day. But nooooo... forcing their half assed Siri solution on us. And probably holding out until AirPods 2.0 is here.

I have this great idea for headphones that never need charging and are difficult to lose because they are connected to one another. The headphones have their own separate plug so as not to interfere with charging or battery cases or any interface which uses the charging/data port. The headphones are extremely small and lightweight since the sound processing is all done in the phone, so they are just little speakers that sit in your ears. And they sound amazing.

It's so convenient Apple can update these. People are complaining about having software updates for earphones... Apple can't win.

Yeah, I don't get the complaints about updates. Being able to quietly and painlessly update firmware in the background is great.

Gosh what? Wireless earphones get firmware updates all the time. I've updated my Plantronics Backbeat Pro a few times over the years. Neat-o? Sure thing. Welcome to the future Apple zombies.

gosh life shouldn't have to be that complicated - especially with relatively meaningless objects like earphones.

  1. Having the DAC external to the phone means headphone manufacturers can use whatever quality DAC they'd prefer rather than the one that Apple chooses. This is a win for premium headphone manufactures and for audiophiles.
  2. Charging is really a non-issue for these. They charge so fast, and do it automatically in their carrying case.
  3. Losing them isn't an issue either if you're an adult and know how to keep track of your stuff. Keeping them in their carrying case (see #2) can help with this and it fits easily and non-conspicuously into your pockets.
  4. The AirPods sound better than the EarPods. I get every phone every year, so I've had every set of EarPods Apple's put out. The AirPods have a fuller sound to them and generally sound nicer.
  5. No wires is such a win. Huge. I can walk around my house listening to whatever I'm listening to without having to make sure I have my phone physically on me. No wires to snag on things, which is amazing. Also, and I know this sounds minor, but not having the wire hanging down the side of your face and down your body feels very freeing.

Gotta love a world where headphones and refrigerators need software updates.
Yeah, those 15-30 seconds could've been used for something productive

Ah, yes. The classic "tangled mass of cord" headphones.
