Does this apply to small scratches? Or do I just have to smash it I would probably have this happen more than twice, lol. I wear my watch to do yard work a lot because I get reimbursed through my work's insurance program for being active. I put a protective case on it, but the screen isn't protected because I don't want to fiddle with a screen protector each time I go outside. The sapphire has saved it many times! It has a lip on the case which prevents most impacts but there are so many times it has been grazed by sharp objects or stones. But even if I didn't use it outside, there are so many times I graze doorknobs and doorways. My old watch face had a lot of scratches on it, but it wasn't very noticeable since it didn't have an active backlit display.

I'm not 100% sure. It sounded like it. I'd say ask Apple. I will say the 2x limit is kind of worrying, but in practice I don't tend to really screw up my watch faces so YMMV. The watch I'm wearing right now hasn't left my wrist for more than a few minutes for the last few weeks and I've hit the side once but nothing is scratched. The watch I was wearing before does have a slight scratch on the face that saddens me. But it's fine enough. I think the Apple Watch would probably survive what happened to it, but if not, hopefully the Apple Care prevails. I'd probably live with it for a bit and then get it fixed if something else happened or if it were just terrible. Wearing this other watch has hopefully made me more careful. The previous one I only wear occasionally.

Yeah it is a little worrying since my next AW will probably end up lasting me a bit longer. I knew going into the first gen that I'd be upgrading to the second or third version. The software updates have been decent enough that I can wait. I don't use my AW as heavily as some people. I'm hoping Apple puts a custom W chip into the next version to speed up wireless communications with the iPhone. I'm also hoping for those next gen lithium batteries that are supposed to last twice as long per charge. I'd buy Apple Care if it lasted longer. It's kind of ridiculous (at least for me) to upgrade a watch every two years.

I was hoping for longer battery life and a thinner watch, but I think having GPS off a good bit of the time will at least fix that. It sounds like people have had luck with that. It just felt like time for me to jump in. I had planned on waiting for v2 at the outset. And definitely, it'd be nice to have Apple Care last longer. I will hopefully not be buying a new one in to years. Or maybe I should say hopefully, because it'd be nice to have enough funds to be able to just buy a new one every couple of years, haha. I do well for myself, but the poor kid inside of me finds things like that hard to justify no matter how much I make. Someone in the band thread has bought almost the amount of my watch in bands. Good on them, but man I couldn't justify that. But I won't hate on anyone who can. I will hate on you if you're buying $500 jeans off the rack. That seems ridiculous at any amount of income. ;) Cue the guy getting his feelings hurt because he owns a pair of Diesel jeans.

Yeah I saw that they have exclusive watch faces too, like the Hermés edition. So like I originally said, kind of dumb that we can't get these features on the SS model. They should just offer the Nike band and with the band is a one-use code that you can scan with your iPhone and it activates those features on your Watch. Or at the very least sell a SS Nike model. Whenever I upgrade my Series 0 (probably Series 3), it will come with a wristband that I don't need anyway, so might as well make it the Nike one, which I think looks nice and sporty for when I'm working out. I only really bought the SS model because of the sapphire display. I'm the type of person who goes a little crazy if I have scratches on my display and I'm really bad about knocking my watch into things that scratch it because I flail my arms around like an idiot when I walk.

Haha. From what I've read using Apple Care, you can have the watch refinished for $69/each two times during the lifetime of the watch. That's one reason I bothered to purchase Apple Care.

But yeah, I would've rather already had my watch and then had bands I could purchase or something and scan as you said. I don't understand why this model was delayed compared to the others. It was rather annoying. I can't imagine the delay was in bands, other than they knew it would sell less because it's specific so they opted to produce more base models, delaying the Nike version. I mostly want the band and the faces, so if the delay was app related, it wouldn't have bothered me. I would've rather had the watch sooner and the apps later.

Alternately, this is a smart watch. The bands could be smart as well. An NFC chip could be embedded into the bands which signals the watch to allow access to the watch face. Theoretically, someone could get the band, use the one-time code to unlock the watch face, and then sell the band to someone else, thus essentially getting the watch face for free (not that it's a huge deal).

However, the "smart band" could also be used to allow the chip to be encoded for custom watch settings ... in other words, when you put the Sport band on your watch, the chip could signal a particular watch face, and app configuration for whatever activity you use it most. And none of this would affect the way the band looks, or works.

That would be sweet actually. They'd be locking down something, while providing more features for the user. Win win.

The only issue I'd see is that you might want a Nike face with another band, or vice versa. But they could make it active for a few days or something.

True. If the idea is that Apple wants you to have the band in order to get the face, then the mere presence of the band is all that's required. So maybe that's it, the face/feature is initialized for a 24/48 hour period from contact with the band. Merely touching the watch to the band is all it would take. Not sure where everyone keeps their bands, but mine are in a drawer under the charging area.

You really have multiple band at the insane prices Apple calls for them? x_X

At Least they didn't charge extra for the Nike features

LMAO ... especially with this ... (quote in BOLD)

Nike+ Apple Watches include unique Nike-designed watch faces and complications for the Apple device that users will only be able to get when purchasing the special edition of the Apple Watch.

I'm surprised NOBODY got this lol.

I stand corrected 3rd page someone directly explained. Still I thought i was a feature our host was trying to slip in a joke.
