Apple has quietly updated their Time Capsule with 2TB and 3TB models, as expected. Pricing of the new units isn't clear as Apple hasn't updated the retail site, though the splash page still indicates "Starting at $299". There seems to be no mention of any new features aside from the hard drive capacities

Apple has also slightly tweaked the promotional pages for the AirPort Extreme, suggesting that that device has also received a quiet update. But again, no details on spec changes have been revealed.

Update: Apple has now posted store pages for the updated 2 TB ($299) and 3 TB ($499) Time Capsules. The new models offer the same price points as before, but with the upgraded capacities.

Apple has also posted a new store page for the AirPort Extreme, although it is still unclear what improvements are included over the previous generation. Pricing remains at $179.

I'm actually glad it's the same design. I have been waiting for the new Time Capsule to come out so I can buy one (been wanting to buy one). Now that it's the same, only double the storage, I think I'll be happy because it's what I was expecting to work with (no new features I have to learn, etc.).

I also thought the caching of software updates and stuff was a little too much. I mean, if your internet is 15mbps+, you should be fine just downloading it.

They might as well just put a picture of a big curly dog poop on the top. Or a real one.

According to http://www.apple.com/wifi/ it says there are "Four Gigabit" ethernet ports -- I thought it only had three?

Base station page still currently showing the old model...

Pretty shambolic update!

The web designers seem to be pretty slow with posting these updates.

Usually, they update the item's page, the store, and they're done.

But this is taking like 30 minutes to post.

Final Cut Pro seemed to take a little long as well, but that panned out quicker.

Agreed. Should be an install script to copy all the new pages into their correct position, along with a simultaneous sql script to update the store's database.

It's not rocket surgery! ;)
