Well, that's at least 6 more of them they have to sell now to make up for the one sale they have just lost.

This is only a very small price increase and almost certainly due to shortages of the components driving up costs for everyone. This has been a growing problem for sometime.

Please don't accuse Apple of being greedy. That is not the case at all.
Congratulations! You are this week's winner of the apologists award!

Following today's event that saw the introduction of the iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Apple Watch Series 3, and 4K Apple TV, Apple has quietly raised the prices on all of its 256 and 512GB iPad Pro models.

All 256 and 512GB 10.5 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models are $50 more expensive. For the 10.5-inch iPad Pro, Apple now charges $649 for the 64GB model, $799 for the 256GB model, and $999 for the 512GB model.

For the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, Apple charges $799 for the 64GB model, $949 for the 256GB model, and $1149 for the 512GB model. All cellular models are an additional $130 over the above listed prices.

Prior to today, 12.9-inch iPad Pro pricing was $799/$899/$1099 for the 64/256/512GB models, while 10.5-inch iPad Pro pricing was $649/$749/$949.

It is not clear why Apple has decided to raise the prices on its iPad Pro models, but prices could be increasing due to increased costs for memory.

Best Buy has already updated its iPad Pro pricing to reflect price increase, but other sites have not yet done so. If you plan to purchase a higher-capacity iPad Pro, now is the time to do it at a site that still offers the original price. For the best deals, check out our Deals Roundup, which features price charts for all Apple devices, including the iPad Pro.

Is this supposed to be sarcasm?

For a company who constantly preaches about 'helping humanity", and not being elitist, this is a very strange way of backing up their statements.

Apple hardware has always had a premium price, however at the moment (and for some time now) it appears they are testing their customers and seeing how much they can get away with.

From a business side the numbers must add up, they might have a slight decrease in number of sales but their profits will be up.

I understand that as a company Apple must do all it can to maximize profit, but they should spare us their BS dribble about helping humanity, having low profit margins and just about everything else that comes out of Cook's mouth.

This was a bad move.

PS: I buy Apple products and will continue to do so, however I find it distasteful that they blatantly spew out BS expecting people to buy into it blindly.

I'm glad I bought my 12.9 before they increased the price. I can use the money I saved and buy some premium beef for my dogs.

It's because of chip shortages for memory.

Exactly WHAT shortages?

No hurricanes, no earthquakes or other forces of nature affecting production in the world. The shortages is simply Apple buying too much in advance affecting the market.

I call BS on shortages.
I see nothing on Reuters nor Bloomberg stating of shortages today or this week nor this month.

Well, you have to look back in time - pricing is set weeks or months ago for shipments occurring in the last few days, and the coming days & weeks.

You also have to look at sources closer to the industry, such as EE Times...

There's a significant price hike, and for a 256Gb device using 64Gb chips, and needing 4 of them, that amounts to an increase of some $20-25... the pricing on 64Gb devices is much more turbulent than for smaller devices...

This is going to be a bad quarter for them. No one is going to buy an iPhone until November, and with no new computers on the horizon, income will be down. Unless, of course, they raise the price of some of their most popular items that are available...like the iPad Pro. Those smart number crunchers at Apple know what to do!
