Didn't these new iPads just come out a few months ago???

Price hikes already?

I'm glad I bought mine on tax free weekend and with the education discount. Plus I got some free beats.
Well played. I guess that sort of discounting is what the price hike is meant to offset?

Well, you have to look back in time - pricing is set weeks or months ago for shipments occurring in the last few days, and the coming days & weeks.

You also have to look at sources closer to the industry, such as EE Times...
http://www.eetimes.com/document.asp?doc_id=1331838

There's a significant price hike, and for a 256Gb device using 64Gb chips, and needing 4 of them, that amounts to an increase of some $20-25... the pricing on 64Gb devices is much more turbulent than for smaller devices...

Great info much appreciated!! Always happy to learn and grow on a daily or hourly. I thank you for this.

Funny Apple didn't choose these options from devices already in production:

iPhone SE
64/128 stay the same

iPhone 6S
32/64GB

iPhone 7
32/64/128GB

iPhone 8
64/128/256GB

iPhone X
128/256GB

Are you serious Apple a 64GB IPX ?!

Raising prices on a device that’s now been out for months? Don’t think I’ve ever seen such an insulting move from a company

Love the feigned outrage on this forum. Nobody cares except "it isn't fair!" despite legitimate reasons and every right to increase price.

In general terms you are spot on. We do care - at least a bit - because Apple is wanting an ever-increasing percentage of disposable income. Plus, the trend is that things get less expensive over time based on improvements to both the supply chain and manufacturing processes. Increasing prices, even when completely reasonable, is never a good idea without at least making a public statement. If Apple included a note on the iPad Pro page stating that prices were going up because of increased worldwide demand / reduced manufacturing capacity / natural disaster / etc., they would get the same pass that other companies get. Instead... we get surprised!

Yeah, Apple couldn't wait until next year, the X makes them feel so emboldened.

Tim is sure everyone will love the new prices, they are the thinnest high prices in the world today. Carefully crafted on a single post it note, each number was meticulously drawn to ensure the edges blended perfectly with the paper, each stroke of the pen was a work of art and the smile on Tim"s face as he glanced down at his magical creation.... priceless

I don’t usually join in on the Apple bashing but this is BS. Do you really think 256 and 512 memory chips are $50 more? Not to mention we don’t actually know if that’s the reason.

There have been so many sales and discounts on the iPP since launch earlier this year. I always assumed this was because demand wasn't that high....so this just doesn't make any sense to me at all.

I understand that there's a NAND shortage, but hasn't it been going on all year? Has it really gotten that much worse in the few months since the iPad Pros launched?

I'm glad I purchased my 512 a couple weeks ago from Target who price-matched BB at $100 off and I used $300 worth of gift cards as well. I love my iPad!

im guessing this is due to the new iphone using a lot more of the same parts as the ipad pros (screen, chips etc) which allows their suppliers to charge more

pretty ****** that apple is putting the cost over to customers

Well this is just ******. Glad I bought mine when I did. I have a sinking suspicion Apple is raising the price right before iOS 11 is released, with the anticipation that the additional iPad features in it will drive up iPad sales.

And microSDXC is specified up to 2TB.

And also runs at a fraction of a fraction of the speed of built-in storage.

This is criminal

I got the 64gb 12.9 gen2 and $100 price adjustment off too but it shouldn't have to be like this. Raising the price on a 3 month old product silently

I'm pissed and I'm not even directly impacted by this. What a horrible thing to do to customers. Period. I don't care if nand prices go up because they're using same nand in the new phones, suppliers want to charge more, etc... NO MATTER THE REASON it's inexcusable

Macmall still has iPad Pro 10.5 256gb wifi for 699. Missed bestbuy two weeks ago at 649. I noticed this right away when store went up because looking at iPad Pro 10.5. Articles are saying memory prices going up. Who knows.

Buy your iPhone X as soon as you can...come January it will be $1099!

But seriously, the more we buy their products and produce demand for the items, the more they can charge. Doesn’t make it any less of a dick move to raise prices, but we are really only encouraging this behavior.

Haha. Apple's trillion dollar projections were off. Time for price increases.
