This goes out to all those people who didn't thought the iPad wasn't going to be a success since January 27, 2010.:D

On MR, the proof is in the post histories. Check them out to separate the prescient from the purblind.

They'll sell a lot more as apps expand

We've had our 3G iPad for just a couple days and already it is altering the way we connect to the web and do things in general. I've never been a fan of ebooks but this system has me sold. Some of the apps are so much better than the laptop experience that I use them instead- despite the smaller screen. The biggest drawback is the present lack of tools that take advantage of the iPad real estate and way of working. We can't wait for the mapping and navigation guys to finish their releases. For things where you are going to do a lot of typing you have to have the keyboard accessory. But for quick stuff it is much better than my iPhone.

I'm happy for us consumers. We're getting to see the success one of the most innovative products in computer history come to fruition.

I purchased this for my wife for Mother's Day. It should arrive Tuesday (took a full two weeks before Apple shipped it). I'm holding off buying one for myself until the second generation. :D

So every 300th person I see should have one. We need to perfect the secret handshake.

1 in 300 would be correct except for the 20-30% (could be more) that are getting exported to foreign soil. Don't think we have any way to gauge how many have been bought for that purpose, but I bet it's a huge chunk of the million. But a million is really a lot, a thousand thousand doesn't sound so big... can someone who did better in high school tell me what size cube of iPad boxes a million would be?

This is good news. The more they sell, the more developers will release new apps for the iPad. The current crop of apps don't really maximize the iPads hardware--and there aren't many of them.

From that article:

All this will have come about because Apple have done the R&D and released a product that’s been instantly derided as ugly and not what people want. If I were Steve Ballmer today, I’d be splashing out on an extra skiing holiday.

Ahahahahahahahahahahahah!

*breathes*

Ahahahahahahahahahahahahah !

After the Courier fiasco, Ballmer is going back to catering office bloatware to corporate suits. Nothing new here :D

I we listen to the Michael Dells of the world (including those on this forum who say I can't see hat it can be used for) we'd all still be living in caves.

Yes, the epic fail posters.

The I don't need it posters
The.......................

We need a large giving the finger icon:)

Seriously, I had a chance to use one from a guy in Germany who bought it on ebay.

It does 95% of what I do when in non working mode, without a bulky book on my lap.

Room for improvement:

Need list view (Didn't have time to figure out if it does), as icons are spread too far apart and it gets cumbersome to flip through the full with icon screens.

Cameras are coming

I found it uncomfortable to hold after a while and look down upon it.

Some kind of an integrated stand may be a good idea.

As I am older I wouldn't mind a larger version.

For that matter I would also like to see a 24 inch MacBook Pro:)

I didn't expect the iPad to be THAT successful, but I'm happy it is!

How to get up to $900 out of people pockets?

Sell them enlarged iPhone that can't make calls!!!

Magical device indeed! :D

Hahahahaha

we have two ipads:

- one for my wife which she does not let me touch...
- my own ipad is now my 3 year old's ipad which he does not let me touch...

I can only play with the iPad at night.

Alos, folks waiting for 'gifts' (i.e. ipads):

- myself
- mom
- dad
- wife's mom
- wife's dad
- niece

We'll be purchasing ipads for the next three years, and then we will have to start updating to the next gen...

Incidentally, only ipad will do, nothing but iphoneOS in whatever they get.

The real test will be if it can continue to sell this well.

Real test? Geesh. Some people are never impressed. :D
The device has only been out a month... in one country.
Next it goes global. Then they drop v2. And then...

iPad has passed (and Apple continues passing) the test.

Well I won't be buying one. Because 1: It's a nothing more then a large screen ipod/iphone!! I have no need for another ipod touch.

Its an awkward device. Too big to carry around yet too small and not functional enough to do any serious work on. Not really a replacement for my macbook, ipod or desktop.

What they need to do is come out with a 5" ipod with 3g and a camera. Now THAT'S a device That would be worth buying!
