I also have been trying to get the rebate. Fortunately, I copied everything and sent it return receipt requested.
My original was received 6/25; after a while I wondered and called - they had no record of receiving any paperwork. They faxed me a affadavit and I re-sent it all (including the post office confirmation) again return receipt requested ($5.21 in postage TWICE now)
This package was received a week ago, and they still won't acknowledge receipt. The first person I talked to said it would take two weeks to enter the info; the one I talked to yesterday said 8 weeks (yeah, right.)
I might give them the two weeks after the second copy, but sjobs will receive an email if they lose it this time. In which case, I'll also want my postage reimbursed.
I received email acknowledging receipt of my re-submission, just under two weeks from when the post office says they got it.
Now I just have to give them a little while to see what they do.

Oh man, this stuff doesn't sound good at all. I'm going to send in the ipod and printer rebate. Does it need to have the name of the person it was shipped to or the name on the credit card?

I waited till the 17th like they told me to, and I haven't received anything yet...going to have to give them a call tomorrow and see what's up. Will update then.

I thought I was the only one.....

I sent in the original UPCs with all the rebate paperwork June 10th or 11th. Called back a month later after the websites gave the same useless "we have not received your receipts or UPCs" message. I talked to 4 different reps (all sounded like they were in the U.S.) and got 4 different stories. One of the four was the most helpful, and she faxed me the lost UPC affidavit. So I resubmitted everything (one for the iPod, one for the printer) at the same time at the end of July.

So far, I've received the iPod rebate check. Have not gotten the printer one yet. How can I find out the date the check issued online? Didn't see that info on the website -- only says my check has processed.

Should I call and try not to yell at them tomorrow or wait?

Addendum: Huh. Just got on the Apple Rebate website again and it actually posted the date the check was issued (8/18) and the amount ($100.00), both of which are correct. This info was not there before for either rebate. Hmm. Go figure.

Their system is still flawed. USPS can't have lost this many UPCs from different parts of the U.S.

I hate rebates, I have been scammed over and over on them. Always saying were missing something to make it invalid.

I finally got to the point where I refuse to buy something with a rebate. Take it off the price immediatly and I will buy. if not, then stick it

I totally agree. Rebates are a P.I.T.A. :D

I called and talked to someone...Jessica was very nice...we eventually found out that they had mailed it to the wrong address...mine is 3415 and they apparently sent it to 3416...they are reissuing me a check, so i should be getting it soon...

Another update from me:

I faxed the affidavit Monday to them and Wednesday morning I checked the Apple promo site and saw this message:

"Check #XXXXXX was issued on 08/21/2007 for the amount of US$199.00"

That was quicker than I thought. So I guess I should wait 2-4 weeks to receive the check? Is there still a chance they could deny me again or is this a done deal?

Now I just need to sort out the printer rebate. Was waiting to get the nano money first.

fine print

When I bought a macMini a couple weeks back, I was asked by two different Apple store employees if I wanted the free iPod nano. Good thing I read the fine print or I would have been SOL, as the rebate does not apply to the macMini. They thanked me for clarifying the rebate policy and explained that last year there was no restriction. Be careful with rebates...

I have no clue what happened, previously my printer rebate was denied to a missing UPC, and now it's been approved. I haven't contacted them at all, nice that I didn't need to go through the whole process of trying to get it fixed.

mine too.....i cashed my IPod nano rebate check already last week...three weeks after i bought the macbook and stuff....i haven't even needed to pay my credit card yet!

anyways, for the printer rebate, at first the site said "UPC code not matching or something"....then it switched back to "in progress" last week....and yesterday they told me that they had cut the rebate check already in the amount of $100....i hope this would be the end of it....

I did not read all the responses but I just wanted to chime in and let you know I also had this EXACT issue. I bought my new MBP in early June and just this week they finally mailed my check.

I received the same email you did and after hours of being on the phone with Apple they finally confessed that someone must have just "lost" one of my bar codes. BS! It sounds like they are trying to get people to give up on their rebate money.

Not good Apple...

I just sent mine certified return receipt and stapled the UPC's. :)

well.. good news, i just received my check this morning. that only took a couple months /:

There are a couple of posters in this thread who did not have the presence of mind to keep the UPC labels. All I can say is to them is that if they do not get the rebates they have only themselves to blame, but if they do then they should count themselves lucky for not reading the fine print.

And someone else called this a fraud? Oh please, if it was a deliberate scam by Apple this thread wouldn't be only 3 pages long. I understand the disappointment and sense of injustice one will get when their rebates don't go through the first time, but there's always the possibility of something screwing up in such deals, not least since 3rd parties are the ones handling the rebates. My rebate took 6 weeks to process btw, so I advocate patience.

Somewhat good news. My check for the ipod rebate finally arrived. Now I just need to address the printer rebate. It might get ugly.

About photocopying UPC's and such. I had everything photocopied and they still wouldn't do anything to help me out. Nothing. That's just not good business on Apple's part sorry to say.

Well, I'm not feeling too good about this now.

I sent in my iPod rebate today and didn't make copies nor did I send everything via registered mail. So guess I'm just asking to get screwed.
I didn't think all this was necessary... I was clearly wrong. If you think about it its pretty sad that one would need to go to such lengths.

Finally got my printer rebate as well today....so basically i got both checks from both rebates a month after my purchase of my macbook...i'm a happy man :):)

Well, when I did this last year, I sent in the UPC's that were on the brown boxes (aside from the printer, which arrived in its own box) figuring (after I forgot to make copies) that if there were a problem, I could use the UPC's on the product boxes. Thankfully, there were no problems.. the rebate company was exceptionally slow - they got the checks to me a day within 12 weeks.
