HAHAHAHA!

Yeah, I know what that means. I used to do that in the third grade when I couldn't win an argument. Then I grew up.

Anyway, I did more of your homework for you and attached the first hit that came up when I Googled Apple Recalls. As I said, there were quite a few and it's not unheard of especially when it comes to Li-Ion batts getting hot and catching fire.

Take a break, like I said, that goalpost was pretty darn big.

Still not sure if that's clear enough for him. He doesn't seem like someone who does his homework before posting.

Agreed, and apparently Henry is resorting to name calling. It isn't enough to just make a claim and back it up anymore. You have to make it, back it up, and defend it against someone that's going to throw in all kinds of insults and 3rd grade tactics.

Like Apple having to recall products is a bad thing. Or that Beats or any other company making good products looks bad for Apple.

You're so worked up over my Beats comments. Hmm, you must be an owner that can't stand to hear any criticism about them. I'm seeing that with a few people here. #buyerfrustration.

Avoiding the fact people had more issues with the iPhone 6 design than just the size of it...Typical post from someone who was proven wrong.... #noob

""Because customer safety is the company's top priority, Apple is asking customers to stop using their Beats Pill XL speakers."

Shame they don't take the same courtesy for the customer's ears :p

I thought they were a fashion accessory ;)

So glad my iLive doesnt have this issue. :p:D

Apple today announced a voluntary recall of all Beats Pill XL speakers due to the rare possibility that the battery in the speakers may overheat and pose a fire safety risk. Apple advises all customers to stop using the Beats Pill XL speakers and will issue a $325 refund or Apple Store credit to affected customers. The recall does not extend to other Apple or Beats products.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission notes that the recall applies to about 222,000 Beats Pill XL speakers sold in the United States from January 2014 through June 2015, while Health Canada says that approximately 11,000 units were sold in Canada. Apple received eight reports of incidents of the speakers overheating, including one that burned a customer's finger and one that burned a customer's desk.Beats Pill XL speakers were introduced by Beats by Dre in November 2013, prior to Apple acquiring the company in 2014, and are sold in five colors: black, metallic sky, pink, titanium and white. Apple will issue refunds to affected customers approximately three weeks after receiving the returned Beats Pill XL speakers in a postage paid box.

WHY does it cost $300?

I like my Beats XL, nearly all day battery life and fills the room with sound. I would rather send it in for battery replacement than a full refund.

Good to know. My iPod HiFi is getting long in the tooth, especially with that aging 10 pin dock connector. I've been thinking about replacing it for some time now.

Now THIS is an ugly speaker. :)

say what you want but i've had my beats pill xl for a year now and I freaking LOVE it, this thing puts out thumping high quality sound, it's a shame that it's being recalled though cuz I really don't want to send mine back :/

You'd think it would be less expensive to just send affected customers replacement batteries.

OH WAIT, the battery is sealed into the unit and cannot be replaced.

I really don't like this new trend of sealing in batteries. Not only can they not be replaced in cases like this, but it gives the product a definite future expiration date. I can pull out my circa 1989 Game Boy and pop in four AAs and use it. I doubt you'll be able to use one of today's bluetooth speakers in 2041.

Yes. When will we return to the halcyon days of using AA batteries?

That's one heavy goalpost you're moving.

Recently, as in last year, and multiple as in more than one.

Sounds like I proved my point.
I believe Henry interpreted your post as claiming that Apple has had multiple battery recalls in the past year due to risk of fire. In fact, the iPhone 5 battery recall program is related to decreased capacity of a subset of iPhone 5's, not due to fire risk. AFAIK, Apple's only previous recall due to fire risk was the one you linked regarding laptop batteries, and every manufacturer using those batteries also recalled them (I belive the cost ened up being charged back to the battery manufacturer). Apple did offer a voluntary trade-in program in which it gave a free authentic Apple charging block to anyone who brought in an unathorized knock-off because there had been fires attributed to 3rd party chargers. Also, there have been fires attributed to physically damaged lithium batteries, but this is a characteristic of all lithium batteries.

It's amazing how opposite Beats' design is to Apple's - it's almost like Kabbalistic tessellation.

Apple should've bought Bose.
This type of comment really makes me wonder if people really know about business. I see this same type of comment often about Spotify. It's not that cut and dry. No company no matter how much they are worth or how much money they have can just wake up one morning and decide to buy a company. If the company is not for sale, then it's not for sale. They would have to find a way to purchase up enough stocks in said company to have controlling interest for a hostile takeover.

They should recall their MacBook Pro AC adapters, as those catch fire too. Just had mine replaced, good thing I smelled the burning and was there to unplug it.
