Apple Recalls Beats Pill XL Speakers Due to Possible Fire Hazard

For the price, the sound quality of Beats products are laughably bad. Not sure why Apple blew so much money on this garbage.

Having flames come out to your favourite track, would be a cool feature , almost worth getting the pill for. Without the flames feature, it's just an expansive ugly speaker that sounds average at best

This sucks I actually really like my Beats Pill XL.

The thing has great sound and it's actually very loud fits perfectly inside my moped pockets too due to its pill shaped design.

And with handle its super easy to carry. I love this thing and I don't understand all the hate for it. You have to hear it in person to appreciate it.

And I am by far no beats lover there headphones suck ass and the smaller beats pill is absolute trash but this big one is actually very good.

/sigh....

Is there any other Bluetooth speakers on the level as the beats pill Since I will have to return this one?

Has anyone heard the Bowers & Wilkins T7?

It's about the same price and the beats pill.

Does it go as loud as the pill?

Does anyone else have the pill XL and had any problems? Mine has never been hot at all

Sure, the battery catches on fire - but the real reason it was recalled was for it's horrific design.

I believe Henry interpreted your post as claiming that Apple has had multiple battery recalls in the past year due to risk of fire. In fact, the iPhone 5 battery recall program is related to decreased capacity of a subset of iPhone 5's, not due to fire risk. AFAIK, Apple's only previous recall due to fire risk was the one you linked regarding laptop batteries, and every manufacturer using those batteries also recalled them (I belive the cost ened up being charged back to the battery manufacturer). Apple did offer a voluntary trade-in program in which it gave a free authentic Apple charging block to anyone who brought in an unathorized knock-off because there had been fires attributed to 3rd party chargers. Also, there have been fires attributed to physically damaged lithium batteries, but this is a characteristic of all lithium batteries.

The original article is stating that it's a fire hazard that recalled the speakers, and even the iPhone 5 battery replacement claimed to be a fire risk, as did many of the other recalls.

As you and I both said though, faulty Li-Ion batts pose serious fire risks. It's a commonly occurring thing.

Also, we should note that Apple, Beats (pre-Apple), Dell, and many others don't make Li-Ion batts. They're bought from a third party. So any recalls or trouble with batt tech stems from their implementation or directly from the batt maker.

I filled out the online form as quick as possible because while I actually like my pill XL(really is 10x better than the regular pill) I couldn't pass up the 325 as it makes an apple watch totally in my price range now.

I received the prepaid box on friday(it had overnight shipping option on the return label) and dropped it at fedex before 10:30 am so I'm assuming they got it by saturday.

I have 2 questions:
1) Does anyone have a number or email i could use to check to make sure they got my pill I was too excited and forgot to copy the tracking number.

2) Has anyone actually got their credit? I know it says within 3 weeks but I'm getting super antsy to order my watch!

I hated sending in my BP XL... I loved it for outside and in... lasted hours and hours and the sound was awesome. I'll be waiting for the replacement... hopefully in Fall 2015.
