WTF. I just bought 2 of these yesterday at the apple store. NOW they are recalling them the next day? Good grief. Perhaps they should have pulled them off the shelves???

Why would they pull them off the shelves two days ago when the announcement was made today.........

Only an idiot would break these off in the socket. It's not a quality issue with apple. As you can see it is UL approved in the United States. This is strictly a preventive recall so some moron won't sue apple because they yanked the cord out of the wall due to laziness, electrocute themselves trying to get the remains out of the socket and then turn around and sue apple for a faulty design.

These are the same idiots that sue McDonalds for selling hot coffee and not warning them that if they spill it on themselves in the car it will burn them.

Thank You Apple for being proactive against these sue happy idiots. I am not to concerned about my adapter I don't yank it out of the wall from across the room in leiu of getting my butt out of the chair and taking it out properly.

Ugh idiots frustrate me.

Interesting that I'm standing in an Apple Store right now and there is a stack of them sitting on the shelf. I guess you can buy one, just not use it.

Funny, after posting my comment, I turned around and they were gone.

AND THE ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE TODAY!

Are apple stores equipped with crystal balls to see future announcements?

Yeah, they got reports, noticed the problem, analyzed the situation, developed a new power adapter, created the picture for it, came up with the concept to put a green dot on it, wrote a press release and issued the recall ALL THIS MORNING. Use your head.

That's really funny. I just purchased a 3rd party docking station so I don't even use the charger anymore. Will still exchange it though.

I don't think this necessarily makes the charger "bad". It sounds to me that stupid people are pulling it from the socket incorrectly causing it to break. Shame on the user. Not necessarily Apple.

Right. Shame on the user. That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

Maybe someone it that store pulled one out of the wall and it broke thus causing the recall..

Who knows. Who cares. It's not a conspiracy. Just get the new one. It's free.

Maybe Apple is secretly updating all the connectors so we can use the internet over power!!:p

I think I'll just go out and buy a third party adapter, I can't always be at me PC so a USB adapter is a must for me.

You lost me at "it's not a quality issue with Apple". Zealotry at its best. How can you know how sturdy the plug is? How can you be sure it only happens when they "yank the cord out of the wall". How do you know at which point it likely breaks? And so on... but you probably enjoyed your little rant :)

OR... the news percolated up the chain, and the decision was made TODAY to announce, and the deveopment and manufacturing will follow... Since its a minor issue, they probably decided it would be easy to maintain the same form factor.

I was involved in a recall operation from its inception, and the decision and announcement were made as soon as we found out about it, and we worried about the little stuff later... lives matter. We used our heads then instead of waiting until we had all the little ducks in a row before we announced.

Mine's fine, except that my rabbit has chewed two iPhone USB cords. Just enough chewing to expose the wires, but she was caught after two bites! Bad rabbit. Neither cord was plugged in, just dangling from the desk.

Yeah I had a puppy that chewed electrical wires, self correcting problem. HE went barrelling down the hall one day yipping and pawing at his mouth. He shies away from them to this day.

Apple products (particularly iPhone/iPod) just keep getting cheaper and cheaper - as they become more and more common. Urgh - I really am having second thoughts about another iPhone as my next device.

Ouch! My rabbit is constantly looking for wires to chew on, so I've had to keep all of my iPhone cords and MBA wires up above ground. Rabbit-Proof everything Apple in my house...LOL

And guess where this plug adapter was made?

In the same place where they poison babies for profit.

Oh for ****'s sake, I just bought two of the little buggers last week. Plus I've got the one that came with the phone from July.

i hope this is the only thing outside of the many everyday iphone issues we already have to deal with.

my senses tell me this will not be the only iphone related apple product recalled.

?

Yeah, next will be the SIM ejector because kids will choke on them. Talk about PR nightmare.

WOW. how many millions of these are they going to have to replace>??

out of curiosity what would they do with all these extra plugs??

It's a bad day for mother nature.

Ya the problem is not everyone knows that.

People are martyrs to themselves, that's all.

Apple is exchanging power adapters for the iPhone 3G due to the risk of electric shock. Company says no injuries from the adapters have been reported.

Interesting. The plug in question has the "UL" marking...

I'd say it it's more of a ding on them than Apple.
